Biography

The five guys who have chosen the somewhat mysterious moniker of the Juliana Theory to represent their band have successfully transformed themselves from punk and hardcore kids restricted by the constraints of the emo genre into genuine, credible musicians. Their songs display dynamics, skill, and attention to melodious detail that defies their youthful, upbeat, and often lyrical optimistic… Read more in Amazon's The Juliana Theory Store

5.0 out of 5 stars rock and roll, December 25, 1999
By alison (herndon, va.) - See all my reviews
* from the first rift on 'this is not a love song ', I was absolutely hooked by this cd. it's straight pop-rock/emo goodness that makes you want to listen over and over again. these guys could easily take the stage with such bands as the get up kids or promise ring and come out strong. I highly recommend a listen.. or two or three. insightful love lyrics and boyish fun. I dig them. the juliana theory is moving on up - so don't miss them. try them if you like the get up kids, saves the day, jimmy eat world, further seems forever, mineral....etc etc. *

5.0 out of 5 stars You need to buy it and listen to the whole thing....NOW, October 31, 2000
By howitzer (Vancouver, WA) - See all my reviews
I just recently bought this CD after long contemplating on whether or not to buy it. Wow, am I glad I did. The Juliana Theory took me by complete surprise. I didn't even really know what the expect when I bought it, except for the fact that I knew it was not going to be one of the normal Punk Rock CD's I usually buy. Instead, The Theory combines perfectly layered guitars, some acoustics, superb vocals, and intricate bass and drum segments to create an excellent mix of music perfection that can only be described as Emo-Rock-Punk. This album has songs that rock out hard, songs that can choke you up, and songs that can put you to sleep; but most of all it has some of the most poetic lyrics I have ever heard. The Juliana Theory is one of those bands you just need to put the CD in and listen to it the whole way through and enjoy the album as a music experience rather than just a few good songs. There are highlights of course....stand out tracks are-"Duane Joseph," "Seven Forty Seven," "The Closest Thing," "Music Box Superhero," and "Constellation."

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Unknown Band, August 29, 2000
By Jason Daring (Houston, TX USA) - See all my reviews
It's a shame that not one person i know has ever heard of these guys. They write catchy songs and put their hearts into them when playing live. The cd was a chance purchase I made after hearing one of their songs in the background of an episode of the real world of all places. Luckily the cd was amazing and I have not regretted the purchase once. They blend poppy hooks with shades of punk here and there and create a very listener friendly mix that flows effortlessly between tracks.
