5.0 out of 5 stars Eefa Ni Ferra, December 14, 1999
By A Customer
I first heard Aoife's voice on the CD Celtic Spirit and decided to take a chance with Eefa Ni Ferra. I have not been disappointed. Her beautiful melodic voice captivates anyone who loves Irish song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Donegal Jewel, January 26, 2005
By Irish Eyes (Tualatin, OR United States) - See all my reviews
As anyone seriously interested in the subject knows, there is a unique magic to Gaelic song, and this CD is a fine exemplar of that tradition. Aoife's singing voice is a thing of surpassing potency. Two tracks in particular stand out -- not just on this CD but in comparison to any other: "Seacht Suailci Na Maighdine Muire" (The Seven Joys of the Virgin Mary), and "A Neansai Mhile Gra" (O Nancy Dearest Darling). On the latter Maire Brennan does backing vocals for an effect that is indescribable.

A large part of the impact of the songs is due to the language: Donegal Gaelic. Sung by a woman, there is nothing else like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aoife Is Wonderful, January 27, 2005
This is probably the only album I've bought on a complete whim. I walked into a small music shop in beautiful Ashland, Oregon a few hours before my flight home, picked this up because of its pretty cover, and bought it. Thank goodness I did.

Aoife is such a talented artist, it's a shame more people don't listen to her. All the songs on this album are so amazingly beautiful. Aoife has a really breathy (in a beautiful way), ethereal voice, and it's simply indescribable in its beauty. I am constantly in awe when I listen to this, even after so many times (I've had it for years now). I love Celtic music, but this has a certain something about it that's so much more than that. Perhaps it's because the main focus is on Aoife's voice rather than the instrumentals, but when you can hear the instrumentals they aren't overproduced like most new age music.

All in all, this album is more than worth the money you pay for it. Just turning it on is like having some beautiful spirit keeping you company. The music is gorgeous, but it's tangible all the same, and you almost feel like Aoife is in the room with you, maybe sharing a meal or some such thing. This music simply invites you to open up.

3.0 out of 5 stars MOR Celtic folk-pop, following Clannad & Altan mid-90s
Aoife deserves better than an album that smothers her talent. Other reviewers praise this more highly than I do, so let me explain why I rank it three rather than five stars... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cd. Good voice . . . good tunes
Anyway, I haven't actually listened to this cd, but I have heard most of its songs from 'Celtic Spirit' and 'Heart of the Celts' by Narada. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A very special addition to any collection
If you like Celtic music, you'll really appreciate the pure clarity of Aoife's voice on some lovely traditional pieces. Give it a try. You'll recommend it to others.
