It doesn't get much better than this: the Sharp 25L-S180 offers a clear, bright picture and stereo-audio capability at an affordable price. This 25-inch television set is ready to deliver superior sound and video right out of the box.

Setting up this TV is simple. Once you turn the 25L-S180 on, an on-screen menu asks whether you plan to use a broadcast antenna or cable connection. After you make your choice, the TV automatically begins to scan and store available programming selections. This auto-program feature made it easier for us to tune in to channels without having to click through stations filled with static.

It's also clear how to connect devices such as a VCR, DVD player, or video-game system to the 25L-S180. The front-panel audio-video (AV) port is easy to access, but there is also a second AV port located in the back for a more discreet connection.

The universal remote allows you to program your favorite TV stations into four categories. For example, a sports fan might want to program a button on the remote control that cycles only through sports networks, such as ESPN and Fox Sports. To achieve this, you begin by accessing the personal preference feature through the on-screen menu. You can select the channels you want on your custom button by entering in the station channel numbers you want into your personal preference list. Once you exit the menu, you can then cycle through your favorite channels with a single click on the remote control. We were inspired by the possibilities offered by this simple feature. After creating a sports-only channel button, we proceeded to create buttons that only played 24-hour news and movies.

A parental control feature allows you to restrict TV viewing time for children (or couch potatoes). For example, the TV can be programmed to not receive programming during a specified time period of up to 10 hours. A four-digit secret code must be entered to change these settings, which should prevent your clever kids from sneaking a peek at late-night programming.

The T.V. has a tendency to shut of by itself and to get it to turn back on, you have to hit the side of it really hard. The left speaker also doesn't work and the input in the back tends to make a fuzzy picture. I wouldn't recomend it, but it's up to you if you want to buy it. To try and solve this problim, I took it to my local T.V. repairman and he said that it could not be fixed. His words were "Its just the result of lazy workmanship. People just don't take the time that they used to when making their products. U.S. workers, for the most part just don't take the pride in their work that they used to." He just left the shop, griping and grumbling. So unless you want to be lectured by your T.V. repairman like I was, dont buy this television.

We recently got one of these TV's. It has a nice picture, but it has about two features, (closed captioning, sleep timer) That's about it. The price is great for a 25" TV, but after using it, you can tell why it's cheap. My opinion is that I wish I would have spend the extra money and got a TV with more features.
