2.0 out of 5 stars Warning! A totally different sound, February 16, 2000
By marc (Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Equator (Audio CD)
I was kinda disappointed when I heard this record the first time. I bought it because I liked "be on go" (1st track) which is an awesome ambient track. but the other tracks are...well too funky, there are a lot of strange sounds instead of an interesting hook line and plenty of ethnic samples - now they sound like what the name of the band implies :-). Well it's not absolutely horrible, but totally different in comparison with their previous album "Alien Protein". So if you are looking for the old Etnica sound, go buy the new Pleiadians album.

5.0 out of 5 stars More 'etnican' than ever !, August 25, 2000
This review is from: Equator (Audio CD)
There's no possible comparison between 'Equator' and 'Alien Protein' but with this new release Etnica brought the listener-dancer in a flow of pure raw/rave sounds, which he might dislike at the beginning, but by which he'll be physically caught into another state of being. Truly this sound attains the organic bases of spirituality with 'Trip to Transkei'...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff, August 3, 2005
This review is from: Equator (Audio CD)
One has to listen with a more discerning ear to get the most out of this one, that is for sure. It moves along nicely, and there is nothing flat out wrong with it, but if you are looking for a zoomer of a track, you will not find one here. It is more subtle in its ways of politely vying for your attention. Certainly a different style than their Pleiadians I.F.O. album, which was a feat hard to match. Could be somewhat better, could be much worse.
