Product Description

Amazon.com Review

The CanoScan FB620U seems barely bigger than the documents it scans. However, this little machine is packed with power--it makes high-quality scans of graphics, photos, line art, or text, and offers great imaging and optical character recognition (OCR) software for an incredibly low price.

To set up the CanoScan, we attached the cable to our PC, plugged in the AC adapter, dropped in the CD-ROM, and followed the setup wizard. (If you restart your computer before running the CanoScan's setup wizard, you can cancel the Windows New Hardware Installation wizard that runs automatically.) When following the setup wizard, make sure you indicate that you want to install the 620P, not the 320P whose drivers are also included on the same CD-ROM.

In our tests of the CanoScan, we first conducted preview scans of several documents and images just to get acquainted with the scanner. These preview scans and other low resolution scans (75 dpi) were fast and easy, but high-resolution scans were much slower. Still, the images were sharp and clear, and the final scans were comparable to those of much more expensive scanners.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, light-duty scanner that's easy to set up and learn, the CanoScan makes a fine choice.

Pros:

  • Lightweight, small, and portable
  • Easy setup

Cons:

  • Slow scanning in high resolution

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality and ease of use at a great price, September 8, 1999
By A Customer
If you're looking for an entry level scanner for light duty this is the one. Great size for limited space. The quality of the scans are very good however not as good as higher priced models. Software and scanner itself very simple to install. Overall a great item for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Scanner, August 11, 2000
A Kid's Review
When I bought this scanner, it was about 99 bucks. I am very happy with it. It is very easy to use and hook up. Just follow the quick start guide and your golden. One touch scanning makes scanning quick and simple. Just press a button and select the program to use. It scans up to 1200 DPI which is plenty. It comes with good software- Textbrige Plus, Adobe Photodeluxe Home Edition 3.0, ScanGear CS-U, and Toolbox CS. I don't recommond it for Windows 95.(USB dosn't work good with Win95) If you consider in buying a scanner, I recommend this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars love that canon, August 1, 1999
By A Customer
i have been using this scanner for about a month now and i have been having a blast with it. it is very easy to set up and use with the included software. let your imagination fly, with everything that you can do. i highly recommend this product, it's small size was one thing that led me to this scanner,so anyone with limited space for "extras" will like this. i am very pleased with the quality of the images and with a little tweaking i get beautiful photo quality results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for Mac
Okay, small, not that loud, fair scanning. But Canon will not release drivers for the Mac. I found other software that costs $40 but works well. Still, fair warning.
