About the Artist

One of the unique and truly noteworthy artists in today's ambient/space music scene, Jeff Pearce has produced yet another masterpiece of guitar atmospherics. Some of the most beautiful, smooth, slow-moving textures

you will ever encounter, here on Daylight Slowly. BAND_MEMBERS: Jeff Pearce

Product Description

The latest masterpiece of guitar ambience by Jeff Pearce. Pearce creates uniquely smooth and beautiful ambient textures using processed and looped electric guitars. His second and third CDs, "The Hidden Rift" and "Vestiges," respectively, established Pearce as the master of "ambient guitar" music. But between those two landmark releases, in the period from 1993-95, Jeff Pearce recorded another set of never-before-released tracks. Now, re-mastered by Mike Griffin for Hypnos, this material has the same smooth feel pioneered on "The Hidden Rift," and gave a hint as to where Pearce would travel on "Vestiges."

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Ambient Ecstasy, November 21, 2001
Jeff Pearce's work proves the axiom that small label artists do the most interesting work today. The "quick summary" about his music is that this is instrumental ambient sound done primarily with a guitar. The sound is not "guitar-y", but instead a very pleasing "wash of sound". Pearce's music is neither the frightfully new age-y aromatherapy music nor the "wish I were industrial but I can't play that loud" trance stye. Instead, he writes real melodies, and plays them effectively, soothingly and entirely without saccharine. Although this is a work in the ambient tradition, and therefore does not write on an empty page, the only other artist this sound immediately conjures up is Bill Nelson's Sounding the Ritual Echo works some years go.
But Pearce is an original. This is the music you listen to when you have a tiring day, and you just can't take vapid or busy music. The internet is proving that individual artists need no longer rely on the big star maker machinery. This guy recording in Indiana is writing quality music with better than professional production values. This is a must have.
