Extreme saved its best for last, March 5, 2001
I used to think that Extreme was a miserable excuse for a band ... until a friend loaned me WFTP. One listen, and I had to have a copy. Guitarist Nuno Bettencourt was brilliant, Gary Cherone sang with emotion, the songwriting was strong, and varied. Simply, the best music the band released, and a shame that Cherone took 5 steps backward to work with Sir Van Halen.

Extreme's farewell masterpiece, November 24, 2000
By A Customer
This would be the final album from Extreme, as the band broke up a year later and lead singer Gary Cherone went on to join Van Halen in 1997 (and leave in Nov. '99). As it stands, WFTP is Extreme's least-heard and most misunderstood album. But the very element that many criticize it for- it's dark side- is exactly what makes this Extreme's most accomplished and satisfying album. Cherone and co. are not creating accessible music here, they are creating art. As such, it may take a few listens before you discover the joy--but it's there. I know this has an expensive price tag as an import, but it's worth it. WFTP is really the finest music that Extreme would ever release.

amazing record, March 28, 2004
By A Customer
I've been an Extreme fan for years. They are just truly amazing musicians. When I listened to WFTP, I was surprised at how raw and pure the record sounded. I am impressed at the sheer talent and intelligence that this album has. Unconditionally is quite simply a beautiful song, I love it to this day. The album has a very honest feel to it, you can tell they didn't overproduce it. There isn't one song I don't like. Midnight Express is an amazing instrumental by Nuno, who is simply a guitar player who is beyond description, he's just simply brilliant(check out Population One by the way). It's breathtaking. There is something for everyone on here. Hip Today, Cynical, Shadow Boxing, Unconditionally, Midnight Express are all standouts. I love that they were honest, leaving in mistakes, and just making an album unlike anything they'd done before. Extreme has never been afraid to be themselves and differentiate from other bands, both in their personal and professional conduct. An honest, lyrically challenging, intelligent, emotionally driven well crafted work of art by a band who was always a notch or two above the rest. Let the musicianship, chemistry, and intelligence engulf you. You will grow to LOVE this album.
