BRILLIANT play on character themes!, June 10, 2001
This review is from: Teaching Mrs. Tingle: Original Score From The Dimension Motion Picture (Audio CD)
As a true, loving collector of film scores, I found this one to be all in a class of its own. John Frizzell has masterfully created this score with a colorful myriad of thematic themes that are consistant throughout the entire film, and play against eachother in times of conflict. I especially love the "Mrs. Gulch" type theme for Mrs. Tingle. It truly conveys her villanous persona. Another one of my favorites tracks is number 8, "My Mom Has Been Very Sick". I love the way this "bleeding-heart", mournful, theme emphesizes the "pity-seeking" story that Jo Lynn tells Mrs. Tingle her in order to "patch" things up, and convince Mrs. Tingle not report them to the principle for cheating. This themes almost has a "sarcastic" feel to it. My only dissapointment with the audio soundtrack CD it, is that there some score cues that were contained in the original film itself, but, for some reason or other, where extracted in this making of this album. Example, when Mrs. Tingle finds out the exam answer sheet in Leigh Ann's back pack, she goes straight to the principals office. The film cuts to Molly Ringlwald is deeply caught up in reading a romance novel. In the film, a wonderfully "Romeo-Juliet" theme plays in the background. These theme is then trampled upon with Mrs. Tingles theme cutting right through it as she walks into the principals office. Other than this, I am totally pleased with it, and would highly recomend it to any lover of films scores

Very nice orchestration, July 23, 2000
This review is from: Teaching Mrs. Tingle: Original Score From The Dimension Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This album is great mostly due to the "wicket" and "sneaky" orchestral mood that it portrays. This is a great orchestral work, and I find it very relaxing, however very traumatic at times as well. The last track, "Triumph" has a very nice theme to it, and does a great job of showing the composers creativity. However, it is only a minute long. I would have enjoyed more tracks like the last one, but a lot longer in duration. Anyhow, if you are interested in good scores, or a collector, go with this album. It holds its own, and clearly shows the promise for a great score composer.

I loved "Teaching Mrs Tingle",so when I saw the score I just had to have it.I was not dissapointed at all,in fact I was glad I bought it.John Frizzell does an excellent job scoring "Teaching Mrs. Tingle",he made it a very suspenseful score. My favorite song is "Destiny".My other favorite song is "Triumph".The only song I don't care for is "The incident at school". Overall, this is a good cd that is worth your time and money, even though it's only 30 minutes long.Enjoy!!
