The Thomas Crown Affair is a caper story with a new (well, retread) twist: Pierce Brosnan plays a guy who can afford virtually anything, so he attempts to get something he can't, a Monet. It's a movie fitting of a polished, well-produced soundtrack, which is exactly what this disc delivers. Sting's previously unreleased version of the famous theme song "Windmills of Your Mind" lacks the suave psychedelic flair of Noel Harrison's original version (he won an Oscar for the song on the original Thomas Crown soundtrack), but should please his fans. Nina Simone's classic "Sinnerman" is a welcome contribution, and Wasis Diop's "Caban La Ka Kratchie" is a steamy world fusion tune. Bill Conti's score--varying from pulsating piano compositions to smooth jazz--rounds out the rest of this short soundtrack. For most, the real attraction here is the Sting cut. --Jason Verlinde

The Thomas Crown Affair Soundtrack (1999) has some true musical highlights including the obvious Sting version of "Windmills of Your Mind," which was a remake of a song found in the original movie. Another highlights include George Cordandt's "Caban..." and Bill Conti's piano theme found on tracks 5, 6, 8, and 9. The main drawback to this cd is it's short length. There are quite a number of songs missing from the film including the music of the heist, as well as the big band number from the dance sequence between Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Still a good album, and worth a buy from any fan of the film.

I have seen the movie many times and think its a great suspense/caper/romance movie. Actually, its a little bit of all that. the soundtrack fits the movie well. The songs from Sting and Nina Simone are excellent. And Bill Conti's jazz-style score ranges from the plinky piano tunes of the two "Glider" tracks to the smooth jazz lounge feel of "Cocktails". The only problem I had with this otherwise exceptional soundtrack was the lack of the theft sequence music. Although it was more rock than the rest of the score, the theft sequence theme would have rounded off this CD perfectly.

There are 3 major songs MISSING from the CD. The first was played during the breaking out of the horse at the beginning. The second was during the hot dance scene and the major mistake was not including the music from the love scene following the hot dance scene. Maybe a second CD is coming - we can only hope. Meanwhile - does anyone have any info on the songs above? Artist's name? Anything? Otherwise what music that is on the CD is quite good but - geez I hope that the missing songs surface somehow.
