Product Description

Amazon.com Review

An impressively compact cordless tool, Panasonic's 12-volt drill/driver fits into tight spaces where other (bulkier) drills won't. But what really sets this drill apart from the competition is its unique electronic speed control. Unlike other 12-volt drills, this Panasonic delivers full torque at any speed, so you can apply up to 293 inch-pounds of torque while still maintaining control. The drill's 1/2-inch chuck also takes big bits, unlike many 12-volt drills. This drill is a smart buy for plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and even woodworkers--in short, for anyone who wants a small, compact tool that packs a lot of torque and is built to last. The hard-rubber handle is very easy to grip during constant use, even if you have smallish hands. In addition, the forward/reverse switch is easy to reach with your trigger hand. In fact, the tool's superior ergonomic design--never mind its great performance--is enough to win some people over. The tool lacks an onboard bit holder, but that's about all it lacks. The package includes two of Panasonic's long-lasting 3 amp NiMH batteries, a 45-minute universal charger, and a sturdy plastic case. Even the case is well designed, as it features replaceable clips. --Jon Groebner

From the Manufacturer

Smaller and lighter, this tool is an ergonomic delight. Whether you're using it for plumbing, general construction, finish carpentry, or electric installation work, this drill will give you 50% more run time per charge with none of the size and weight you've come to expect. Other features includes a lightweight 1/2-inch keyless chuck, electronic brake, and 18-stage clutch. Your drill kit purchase includes two 3.0 amp NiMH batteries, 45-minute universal charger, and high-impact plastic carrying case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Drill, December 11, 1999
By D.T. (Hawaii) - See all my reviews
This drill is great. I returned a 12 volt makita after I got this one. The high torque at low RPM is definitely the best feature. I have yet to strip a screw or damage a bit. No complaints with the battery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light weight and well balanced, December 19, 1999
I chose this drill - and over the more powerfull versions - because of its light weight as I will use it mostly for woodworking. I was more than pleasantly surprised by this drill.

Pros: very well manufactured, light weight, very well balanced in the hand, very good keyless chuck, can be left standing on its battery (a minor benefit, high torque, constant speed

Cons: The only one I found so far is that you cannot store screw bits on the drill (as on my Dewalt for example).

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic EY6407NWKW 12 Volt 1/2" Cordless Drill, February 9, 2000
By Steve Price (Midland, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
Best drill on the market! I have a Panasonic 12 volt drill that is about 11 years old, still works great. I recently bought one of these because of the NiMH batteries. It's even better than my old one! Lots of torque, lots of use from a battery charge. Can drill a 1/2 in hole in heavy steel plate without straining or running the battery down. My favorite tool!
