Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Built by the company that perfected the bucket tool organizer, the Builder's Rig from Bucket Boss is a well-crafted and well-designed tool belt sporting deep reversed-taper pockets. The well-padded belt features a quick-release buckle and a solid spine that won't stretch under loads like some belts. The smaller pockets have plenty of room for wrenches, pliers, utility knife, angle square, hand plane, pens, and pencils. There's also a tape measure pouch and a sturdy hammer loop. You could certainly spend a lot more for a tool belt--and considering you wear the thing day in and day out, it might even seem worth it--but, thanks to Bucket Boss, you don't have to. This is a solid, all-purpose tool belt at a reasonable price. --Jon Groebner

Product Description

The Builder's Rig is one serious rig--serious about being built to last and serious about holding whatever you need to have with you on the job site. It features pocket openings that are preshaped for easy entry and located where your hand naturally falls. Reversed taper pockets prevent spilling while the solid spine on the padded belt eliminates crushing under load. Other features include metal hammer loops, a quick-release belt buckle, an angle square pocket, and multiple hand-tool pockets with a buckle that adjusts from both sides, and fits waists 28 to 52 inches.

1.0 out of 5 stars saggy baggy, January 9, 2001
By Reinhardt Quelle (Belmont, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bucket Boss 55033 Builders Rig (Tools & Hardware)
I really hate this toolbelt. I like a lot of Bucket Bros. other products (especially the bucket organizers), but this belt was a real disappointment.

The tape holder doesn't fit a 25' tape very well (too shallow and wide), and its too close to the belt for fasteners - they want to pour out when you bend over. The pockets are largely unstructured, so your tools just kind of float around inside, banging into each other and making it hard to fish the right tool out. The outer pockets are too small to hold normal tools securely. Note in the picuture that they've got something like two or three pencils in them (!).

The worst thing about this setup, though, is that the bags have oversized loops that sit over a fairly narrow belt (albiet with some sort of stiffener in it so it buckles less than it might otherwise). The net result is that when you bend forward, the bags come sliding forward, and when you straighten back up, you have to shift 'em back.

On top of that, the stiff part of the belt only extends about 2/3 of its length, so tools like your tape holder and drill holster end up hanging from a narrow web belt, and drooping down.

I finally had to strap on a pair of suspenders to keep the whole rig from sliding apart everytime I unbuckled the belt.

I have a CLC electricians bag with a velcro on the loops to keep the bags in place, and a Skillers system that uses loops and velcro straps - both systems do a far better job of keeping the bag together (though they each have their problems, as well).

On the positive side, the materials the Builder's rig is made up from are durable, and the price is quite reasonable compared to, say, an Occidental Leather setup. If you're a homeowner carrying a light load, or invest in a pair of suspenders, you can make it work OK.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard Working Tool Belt, January 20, 2001
By Scott Miller (Ephrata, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bucket Boss 55033 Builders Rig (Tools & Hardware)
I have been a carpenter for 15 years and wear a tool belt all day, everyday. I purchased this belt to replace an inferior one from a different manufacturer that I had worn for less than a month. This belt is the best, most comfortable belt I have ever owned. For starters, the padded belt makes it feel as if I'm not wearing one.I can wear it all day and not be bothered by weight. The spine in the belt works well at preventing it from compressing. The tool pockets are nice and roomy and I especially like the smaller compartments inside. It makes it easy to carry a lot of smaller hand tools and separate them so they are easy to find when needed. No digging to the bottom of a large pouch to find a utility knife or pliers when needed. My only problem with the belt is the tape measure pouch. It is too big and doesn't secure a tape measure. My tape would fall out almost everytime I bent over. Not a good situation when you're on a roof. I solved the problem by removing the pouch and replacing in with a standard tape holster. All in all I love this belt and would recommend it for everyone from pro to weekend warrior. I'm sure I'll buy another one when this one wears out a long time from now.

Third one I have purchased (still using first one) just wanted spare. I did put a small bolt through the bags to secure them to the belt.
