Product Description

Amazon.com Review

A popular model with framers, this Bostich stick framing nailer offers solid, no-fuss, reliable performance. With an aluminum housing and extruded aluminum magazine, it's a tough piece of equipment, designed to hold up to falls and the inevitable beating things take on a job site. Features include aggressive teeth that easily grip lumber (for toe-nailing), adjustable depth control, and a deflector that conveniently directs exhaust away from the user. We were impressed with how solid the whole unit feels--it definitely has the burliness of an industrial-strength tool. But with its burly nature comes a bit of extra weight--always something to consider. The tool weighs just over 8 pounds empty, so some arm fatigue is probably inevitable. But the nailer's rubber grips are comfortable to hold, and the balance is good. This model shoots 2- to 3-1/2-inch, 21-degree, plastic-collated, full-head nails, and will hold up to 75 nails at a time. This model is also available in contact or sequential trip. --Jonathon Tudor

5.0 out of 5 stars The N95 - A good all purpose nailer, March 31, 2000
By MICHELLE R. CARTER (Tacoma, Washington) - See all my reviews
First, the person doing this review is the husband of the Amazon.com account holder. As a general contractor, we've used nailers for years. The Stanley N95RHN is a very good all purpose nailer. It shoots 21 degree plastic collated nails ranging from 2" to 3 1/2" and from diameters of .113 to .148. The fact that it shoots a 3 1/2" nail separates it from some of the competition and the fact that it can handle a .148 diameter nail separates it further. As you are probably aware, most standard nailers (and many framers favorite, the Hitachi 83A) will only shoot a 3 1/4" by .131 nail. That's fine for basic framing (it fact, I own an 83A and the guys like it) but for nailing decking, shear walls or finished sheathing products (like T-1-11) the Stanley 95 is the gun we use for two reasons. First, the 95 has an adjustable nose piece so that you can set the depth of the nail were you want it WITHOUT decreasing the air pressure. Most of the Hitachi guys I've talked to regulate the depth by varying the air pressure but what happens when you hit hard wood, a knot or a soft spot? Second, most of the shear wall nailing we do requires a 10d common nail. That means a 3" nail with a diameter of .148. There are a lot of framing guns out there that won't shoot a .148 and let you control the depth properly. The 95RHN has held up remarkable well through the dirt, the rain, the abuse, etc. On the down side - I would like it if the tab handle used to retract the magazine spring was larger. In the winter with cold hands I sometimes have to use my hammer to pull back the spring to reload. Keeping the spring clean and lubricated (WD40 or =) seems to help. I'm buying another gun, I looked at the Hitachi and the Senco and I'm buying another Stanley 95.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bostich N95RHN Framing Nailer, December 15, 2000
By A Customer
I am the husband of the Amazon account user. I bought this tool prior to building a two-story workshop/office/garage this past summer. The tool worked flawlessly. I was amazed at the angles which you could approach the work at considering the tools substantial size. In many cases, it can reach place almost impossible to a traditional hammer. I consistently added 2-3 drops of air-tool oil to the nailer and never had a jam! The tool was easy to load and it would easily sink 16 penny (3.5") nails in all framing materials. This tool is awesome for toe nailing. It is a little heavy after use above your head, but generally the work that this tool does is far less tiring than hand nailing. The best thing is that the nailer allows one hand to be free at all times. This tool is a must for installing plywood. I completed my 26 x 32' building in a little more than 2 months with little help from others. This tool saved me much time and much labor. The quality is superb. Don't forget that it uses full round head nails!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A tank!, October 15, 2003
By Sumerduckman (Virginia) - See all my reviews
This thing is a tank. I bought one used years ago. It now has all of the paint worn off , and does not owe me a penny. It has never mis-fired, mis-fed jammed or leaked air. Just done it's job without missing a beat. It has had every brand of full head nails, and will feed them all. It even fed half a clip of d-heads once in a moment of desperation. Go figure. They are heavier ( by a lot!) than some of the newer guns and simpler. They do not have a 'lock out' for the last nail and will dry fire. Do not have the jam clear nose. But I can give one to a helper, and know there will be a greater chance ( some find a way) he will be able to do the job without shooting himself, someone else ( mine is sequential fire only, no bump fire and will not double shoot) or killing it ( two story drop, throw in dirt etc). And after he has finished abusing it, the next time I pick it up, it will still work!
