Kids and bugs are a natural fit. Throw some fabulous Disney animation in the mix and you've really got it made. This enjoyable scavenger hunt starring the animated cast of A Bug's Life tested well with children, even those who hadn't seen the film. Kids are given the task of helping Flik the ant gather items to make a contraption that will repel some nasty grasshopper invaders. To obtain the items, children play six logic activities, several of which have a prosocial goal. In one game, for instance, kids reunite a baby bug with his father by helping him navigate through an obstacle course. Another activity has players helping the ants sort berries by correctly positioning leaf-like levers that steer the berries into the right bins. Other activities include playing a bug board game and creating bug puppet shows. The adventure culminates in an encounter between the ants and the grasshoppers, with the ants of course outsmarting the enemy. Children were drawn to this program, due in part to the strong appeal of the movie's animation. Everyone who played the CD enjoyed it, but many of the activities were quite challenging for younger children. It's too difficult for most three- and four-year-old children to play on their own, but just right for kids aged five to seven.
