5.0 out of 5 stars Forget Satch and Vai, July 31, 2005
This is the one guitar album that can rival Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop.

Bill is the best guitarist you have never heard of - unless you have several albums already - and way better than many you think are good that you have heard of!

Not that I don't rate either Satch or Vai. They just don't hold a candle to Bill in those areas (IMHO) that matter: feel, tone, emotion, communication. And where they surpass in technique it's simply irrelevent.

I know who I would want to play like, or write songs like..

Also check out any Be-Bop Deluxe. 'Air Age Anthology' is a good start.

Put simply, this is Bill just playing guitar instrumentals. Loads of sounds put together like a (musical) art-school collage. But unlike a collage where the joins detract from the work, here the juxtaposition of styles is art in its own right.

Look, just buy it!

Steve

5.0 out of 5 stars Great electric guitar CD, January 27, 2000
By Colin R. Glassey (Bay Area, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This CD is really very good indeed. Reminds me a lot of Michael Brook's masterpiece "Cobalt Blue" or Steve Tibbet's fantasic record "YR". What is it like? Well its mostly electric guitar with some "found sounds" layered on some good rythmn tracks. The tracks flow smothly from one to the next. There is nothing here that is hard to listen too nor is it bombastic "I can play faster than anyone" material. I really like music like this and I think its Bill Nelson's best work since "The Love that Whirls" (early 80s).

4.0 out of 5 stars Bill Nelson returns to his roots, December 16, 1999
By Nick Careless (Sydney, Australia) - See all my reviews
I bought this album and Atom Shop a couple of months ago. Its good to see Bill is still going strong (51 this month). It reminds me of his guitar work from "Be Bop Deluxe", rather than his work in the 80's.

A great guitar album, mellows you out. I prefered it to Atom Shop, because it is more instrumental.

Recommended.
