5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for metal fans!, April 8, 2001
By Rima Osornio (Brookline, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This is a great album to introduce yourself to Witchery, if you don't know them already. They cover four other bands' songs and add three of their own to the mix. "Fast As A Shark" by Accept is the first song. They do a great job with this song. It sounds even better than the original! The second song is "I Wanna Be Somebody" by W.A.S.P. They also do "Riding On The Wind" by Judas Priest and "Neon Knights" by Dio.

Witchery is a Swedish black metal band made up of five excellent musicians, whose skills are exemplified in this album. They are very tight and have the fast, driving energy that metalheads demand! I have to give this album 5 stars because every song is exceptional; there are no fillers on this one. Check it out - you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Witchery rocks night after night after night after night, March 27, 2007
Although "Witchburner" is a seven-song EP, it's worth having at any price. The Undead from Sweden show us their roots by blasting away at covers in the first four titles: tunes originally recorded by Accept, WASP, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath were given their sacred due... and the remaining three originals were great, as well.
If you think you like heavy metal, and are brave enough to delve a little deeper than "mainstream" metal (another "label" which I resent), you need to buy every recording you can find by Witchery, no matter the price.
Witchery's music is very close to the Black Sabbath/Judas Priest/Dio metal tradition, but the melodies and chord progressions sound a bit more medieval and unsettling. Witchery is dark, iconoclastic, and as unforgiving as a magician who turns the tables on an Inquisitor. Witchery kicks it righteously!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly brilliant album!, May 15, 2006
By Keith Adamson (Belfast, Northern Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
My friend was on holiday in South Africa when he passed a small music store and heard someone wailing on a guitar inside. Having seen nothing but safari stuff (elephants, hyena's, etc) and the odd small town for days, and being in the middle of nowhere, he was intrigued as to how a metal music shop could exist in such an environment. Curious, he ventured in.

As it turns out the guitar was from this album and he bought me a copy as a gift. By the time he got home and gave the CD to me it had been played many times and he regretted not buying a copy for himself. I can understand why - this album rocks! It's one of the most awesome guitar albums in the world and has great riffs from start to finish, excellent drums and great lyrics and vocals.

The band members are made up of ex-Satanic Slaughter, Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggar musicians and, though this may raise eyebrows, it's much better than any of these groups (who are great in their own right!). It's chocked full of the best you could expect from a mixture of 80's metal, thrash and death/black metal from start to finish.

Don't wait to go on safari in Africa to get this album - it's a must-have for anyone who likes metal. Just listen to the demo's here and you'll be hooked - the first two are especially good.
