Biography

The youngest girl group ever to notch a number one single on the UK pop charts, Ireland's teen quartet B*Witched comprised vocalist Edele Lynch, her guitar-playing twin sister Keavy, keyboardist Sinead O'Caroll and guitarist Lindsay Armaou. Drawing inspiration from the success of the Lynch sisters' brother Shane -- a member of Boyzone -- the group took to extensive rehearsal and writing sessions… Read more in Amazon's B'Witched Store

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Even more than the Spice Girls, the four-woman Irish act B*Witched is an all-things-to-most-people proposition. Awake and Breathe, the second album by these U.K.-chart conquerors, doesn't make concessions to the American pop market, but these 13 tracks do contain their share of potential stateside hits: the Sheryl Crow-like "If It Don't Fit," the straight-shooting Spice-esque "Shy One," the Crystal Waters-style house "My Superman." A broad spectrum of comparisons for one album? Put it down as much to healthy eclecticism as mercenary concerns. Still, Awake's occasional big statement seems more forced than necessary: Ladysmith Black Mambazo's appearance on the would-be anthem "I Shall Be There" is more a nod to their own recent bestselling status in Great Britain than any desire for real connection between the two groups. But while hardly a classic, the best of Awake will please fans of heartfelt mainstream pop. --Rickey Wright

5.0 out of 5 stars Another 5 Stars!, November 10, 1999
By Brittany Rose (Winnipeg, MB) - See all my reviews

This Album Was Fantastic in My Opinion!Of course, Brittanians might opt out on this because it does have a different feel with an interesting array of songs. Jesse Hold On, Jump Down, The Shy One are clearly the pop anthems on this disc, following in the footsteps of their last hits. The slow songs include "I Shall Be There", "It Was Our Day", and "Are You A Ghost?", my personal fave. Then there are the others. "If It don't Fit" could be debated as a pop anthem, but it's a pop-alterna-hip hop type song, another fave! "Someday", the "Oh Mr.Postman" tune"Leaves", a funky-sounding tune, which grows on you. "Red Indian Girls" the western-native beat which is politically Incorrect. "My Superman" is the disco tribute to the album, "In Fields" Is another growing song, it's very sweet and fun to sing along to.I RECCOMEND this CD as it's great! You'll immediately find yourself questioning,"How would the video look for this" and "What would the dance routine look like?" A major plus for B*W!

5.0 out of 5 stars B-Witched " Awake and Breathe", November 30, 1999
By Son Dang Tra (Oklahoma City, OK) - See all my reviews
The B-Witched cd was so cool. It has all the music from other worlds and has its own musical taste to it. For me it is so interesting and you get to experience the world of new music. The music and songs on the Cd are much more different than from the old B-Witched cd. As you know try it. Listen to the samples online. If you don't like than thats okay. Its all a matter of opinion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleased with new CD, November 30, 1999
By BakerGirl (Minnesota, USA) - See all my reviews
As a person in my early thirties, I suspect I am not the typical B'Witched fan, but I find them refreshing and fun.Having enjoyed the first cd even though it was not consistant, I was pleased with my first listening of Awake and Breath.

It is much smoother and mature while retaining their obvious enthusiasm and love of their music.
