Lightweight and moderately priced, this 840-watt upright vacuum performs all the essential tasks of cleaning a home without the added costs of bells and whistles. Still, it's not bare-bones. A headlight illuminates the 12-inch cleaning path, for example. Three tools--dusting brush, crevice tool, and upholstery nozzle--come along and store onboard. The brush roll adjusts to four heights, including a bare-floor position. The three-position handle lies flat for cleaning under furniture. The vacuum cleans along baseboards and the edges of furniture. And it uses Hoover Micro Filtration Type A paper bags to capture allergens such as dust mites and pollens. Although assembling the vacuum requires 18 steps, they are uncomplicated, only one piece of hardware is required (an included nut and bolt), and the instruction booklet is easy to follow. This vacuum carries a 1-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

This was the first appliance I have ever ordered online and I was able to put it together myself from the directions. I am not very mechanical, so this worked well for me. The product is very easy to use and it's lightweight. I'm very satisfied with it.
