Vanishing Point: In Thought (CD, 49:54); Angular Records Wonderful stuff here: Vanishing Point's In Thought is an energetic addictive metal album with just enough progressive tendencies to make it demand your full attention. Of the many things this band has working in its favor, perhaps greatest is singer Silvio Massaro. His tone is mature and confident, and reminds at times of Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), but non too much. Guitarists Tom Vucur and Chris Porcianko craft melodies which stand up well on their own, and become even stronger when fleshed into full songs. Take the opening melody lines to " In Company Of Darkness," for instance - strong, vibrant and fresh. There's a gorgeous piano ballad here, too ("A Memory"), which the band pulls off just as well as it does the heavy stuff. A great, satisfying, well-rounded record.
