About Stanley MaxSteel Tape Systems and BladeArmor Coating
Designed for contractor or serious home use, MaxSteel tape systems are designed to take the abuse of hard-working professionals without making any compromises. You can count on quality, accuracy, and durability with a MaxSteel tool at your side. BladeArmor coating is a patented industrial thermoplastic coating, the very same material that has been used to strengthen and protect aircraft parts, such as the rotor blades on the Sikorsky Black Hawk Helicopter. Simply put, it helps aircraft survive war zones, and it also helps tape blades survive construction zones. Applying BladeArmor coating to tape blades reduces both tape breakage and tape returns, enabling it to conquer the toughest testing ground of all -- the job site!

The Stanley Story

The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick’s cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it’s famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanley’s commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine tape, March 17, 2003
By dewey st. workshop (iowa city, ia United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stanley 33-599 25-Foot MaxSteel Contractor Grade Tape Rule (Tools & Hardware)
I have owned probably half a dozen of these tapes. As a remodeling contractor my tapes see alot of different uses. I have found this a good solid buy. The fat max is just too awkward in my hands. The main reason I am writing is to note that the previous review noted that the metal hook end of the tape wiggles about 1/8". THIS IS ON PURPOSE. When taking inside measurements the end will subtract the thickness of it's own metal by moving. If one were to rivet the end to make it stationary, either the inside or outside measurements would be off by the thickness of the hook.

4.0 out of 5 stars UNBREAKABLE, October 22, 2000
By BRADLEY KELLER (BRIGHTWOOD OREGON) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stanley 33-599 25-Foot MaxSteel Contractor Grade Tape Rule (Tools & Hardware)
Im going on three years with this tape and in tape measure years thats a long time.I do think stanley has over estimated its stand out spec's but, still a good tape.I must of dropped this tape a dozen times onto wood and concrete and it will not break. So I give it an A plus on durability.Over time the blade has buckled and kinked but they dont live forever.I havent tried the new fat max tape but from what I see perhaps stanley has addressed some of the problems this tape presents. All in all this is a good tape and will last you a long time,I wouldnt be afraid of this one guys. Now get out there and measure something.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Tape, August 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Stanley 33-599 25-Foot MaxSteel Contractor Grade Tape Rule (Tools & Hardware)
This is the only tape I'll ever need. After my old tape fell apart, I decided to go with Stanley 33-599 25'Contractor Max Steel Tape. I made a fine choice. This tape had a good locking system unlike my old one. I especially liked the cushioned grip. This is a great tape. Good Job!
