Product Description

GameSpot Review
Electronic Arts has been making Road Rash games for close to ten years now, and with only a few exceptions, the series has remained true to its motorcycle racing, punching-and-kicking roots. While many hard-core RR fans were disappointed with the series' last PlayStation appearance, Road Rash: Jailbreak fixes what was wrong with Road Rash 3D and delivers a fast, fight-filled racing experience. Along with the return to the roots of the series comes an all-new storyline. In the game's main mode, you'll ally yourself with a gang and advance through its ranks. You advance by placing third or higher on a track. As you complete tracks, you'll earn points for racing and fighting well, and these points in turn grant you extra weapons and nitro boosts. Five-O mode lets you play the role of the police. In this mode, you advance either by arresting thugs to fill your quota or by popping one flashing suspect. You make arrests simply by knocking enemies off their bikes, but it's significantly harder to knock people off in this mode. The game also includes a time-trial mode and several multiplayer modes, like cops and robbers and side car. Graphically, the game isn't perfect. Get more than three or four bikes onscreen and the frame rate takes a huge nosedive. But the bikers and the bikes are modeled well enough, and the game is still very playable. The sound is good, but there's a real lack of varied racer taunts. Gameplay is really what sells the game. The control, particularly with the dual-shock controller, is top-notch. The top buttons control all of your attacks, while the two analog sticks control your throttle and steering. You can also pull off a wheelie, which can be used to launch yourself up and over oncoming traffic. Just don't try to pull a wheelie over a truck.... There are a ton of tracks in the game, but aside from different race locales, the track design isn't too different from track to track. Every track has the same forks in the road, and an onscreen arrow tells you which direction to choose. It's not uncommon for a track to have four or more of these forks, and they really make each track feel generic. Overall, Road Rash: Jailbreak puts the fun back into the Road Rash series, reemphasizing the fighting while still maintaining a good racing experience. If you're into beating motorcycle punks and cops off of their bikes with chains, bats, crowbars, or your bare fists (and hey, who isn't?), then this is definitely the game for you.--Jeff Gerstmann--Copyright © 1998 GameSpot Inc. 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Road Rask Yet!, February 19, 2000

Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is so great. I am even going to buy it now and have rented it twice already. You could race with two different gangs, sport bikers (Kaffe Boys) or hog riders (DeSades). Awesome bikes and awesome modes. For solo riders you could play an adventure to try to get up to a rank of captain or you could actually be a cop trying to take down some of the baddest bikers. You could even try to beat records from other riders. In multiplayer you could play sidecar, where someone drives as a guy named Spaz, and someone in the sidecar as a midget named Punt. You could play skull 2 skull where it is just a race, time trial, or cops and robbers where someone is a cop and someone is a gang member, the cop chases the gang member and tries to knock him off his bike. Cool weapons like crowbars, nun chuckas, cop batons, pipes, chains, tasers, and much more. BUY THE GAME IT"S WORTH IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately better than RR3, January 6, 2002
By A Customer
I got this game for one reason, because I loved Road Rash 3 for genesis. I'd play that game for hours, because I could'nt get the saved game feature, but this does, and its a blast. After all, after a hard days work, its always fun to knock someone off a motorcyle going 90 miles per hour with a crowbar.

5.0 out of 5 stars The rash is BACK!, January 17, 2002

Jailbreak, without question, rocks. Poppin' wheelies over cars, pounding your competitors off their bikes at 130mph. Wow.
Jailbreak gives you several different modes to play: The escaped con, the cop, or the dual player, fun as heck sidecar feature. -They're all a blast.
Bike to bike combat is exquisite, requiring just enough skill to feel proud when you pull up beside somebody and beat them silly, but not so much as to drive you insane. What you say? You want wrecks? Jailbreak's got 'em to spare.
Wiping out in this game is half the fun. Slides flips tumbles rolls and human flight can happen at any turn.
-I've spent almost as much time laughing with friends at wrecks as I've spent winning races.
Alone or with other players, this game is pure, unadulterated fun.
