Editorial Reviews

Product Description
In a world of men, she wanted to be free. Freedom comes at a price. Edie Falco ("The Sopranos," "Oz") stars as Billie, a mysterious drifter and scam artist barely one step ahead of her spotted past. Passing through a small Long Island town, Billie hopes to make a quick buck by faking a car accident. Stashing her savings in a hotel room, Billie gets involved with Ben, an easy mark, who gives Billie more than she bargained for. Returning to her room, she discovers her cash has been stolen. Suspecting a reverse scam, Billie follows Ben in an effort to reclaim her money. Along the way she meets Ted, who sees something special in Billie that draws him to her. When Ted starts asking all the right questions, Billie realizes it's time to go. Turning her back on her instincts, she stays longer than she should. This delay proves costly, and her past catches up to her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Woman struggles for self-definition/existence, April 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Cost of Living (VHS Tape)
The editorial review is mistaken regarding the plot of this flic. This movie explores one woman's attempt to define herself and her existence outside of the masculine realm. Tension is well-built and maintained as residuals from her past begin colliding with her present.
