5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Tucker, March 15, 2001
By "wampire" (Salem, AL United States) - See all my reviews
This is an excellent CD. He uses his voice better than his previous work, and the music is also done much better. Great German music. Not to mention he does a song with Nina Hagen, which can only be a plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for Hard Core German Industrial?, February 23, 2001
By Sandra Adams "reb732" (Los Angeles, California USA) - See all my reviews
If you're looking for hard core German Industrial Music, this is it! The new album from Oomph! is like nothing they've put out before. It's harder, faster, more industrial like beats, it's too great to pass up. You'll have to hear it for yourself, to believe it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well done!, December 5, 2005
Oomph! are clearly one of the more talented acts in the industrial metal scene (which can include, but is not limited to, everything from Rammstein to Fear Factory). With 1999's Plastik, we saw them break into somewhat of a commercial status - and while many 'fans' may not be appreciative of this, I for one think the band managed to tackle their success quite nicely. Dero's vocals are in top-notch form (just listen to the chorus of "Scorn" and tell me you don't feel chills down your spine!). The rest of the music sounds great too, but as I've said before, and as I will say again, Dero is what sets this band from the rest of the industrial-metal genre. His voice has a baritone quality to it, but isn't quite as deep as Till Lindemann's (Rammstein). I'd almost goes as far as to say it bears certain resemblance to that of Depeche Mode's David Gahan. Comparisons aside, he is a great singer, and that seems to be a difficult quality to come by these days.

In terms of songs themselves, my favorites would be the stunning "Das Weisse Licht", the aforementioned mid-tempo "Scorn", the headbanging "Goldenes Herz", and the one you've all been waiting for, "Fieber" featuring Ms. Nina Hagen. While I'm not too big a fan of Nina's, I was pleasantly surprised to hear her on this song, and just as with her recent collaboration with Apocalyptica, she seems to be branching out of her usual punk-diva stylings. The song itself has a great dancebeat quality to it, and is probably one of few rock/metal songs I'd ever want to hear on a dancefloor.

Unrelatedly, around the time Plastik was released, Dero had mentioned something about wanting to collaborate with ex-Skunk Anansie singer Skin, who at the time was busy recording a song with Sevendust. Perhaps she would have appeared on here otherwise?

Back on topic, I'd say overall this is a great album. Sure, it has a couple weak songs, and I don't think it lives up to its successor Ego (nu-metal crossovers aside), but it finely represents its genre as a whole. Industrial metal will thrive as long as these guys remain, which hopefully will be for a long time!

An awesome goth band from Deutschland! I'd describe their music as demon/acid rock with a strong pop twist. They are f***ing awesome! Oomph Baby!

This is one of the better hard core german rock band's I have heard. It shows greater range than prvious albums. I also enjoy the feature with Nina.
