Of course, another requirement for any office suite that doesn't originate in Redmond, Washington, is compatibility with Microsoft's more expensive--and more common--programs. No worries. The WordPerfect Family Pack easily opens and edits Word and Excel files (although it won't unlock those that have been password-protected) and vice versa. WordPerfect sports a similar interface and functionality, with text- and icon-driven menus that are also customizable and contextual (enabled by right-clicking). But habitual MS users should take note of some differences, too. For example, one of the nifty tricks of the word processor is QuickFormat. Turn it on, click inside some formatted text, then click on some other text, and--voilà--both pieces of text have been formatted the same way. Then, just turn it off.
