Christmas Cain includes five new originals written and performed in Chris Cain's true-to-the-blues form. This is not a re-hash of classic carols.
Not In The Mood For Christmas is a smokey slow blues, lamenting lost love.Cain's guitar seems to cry tears of pain as he recants how it all went wrong.
The First Day of Christmas catches Cain swinging on jazz organ and stretching out Wes Montgomery style on guitar.
The Little Drummer Boy meets BB is an impressive instrumental arrangement of a traditional classic. A hard hitting gospel piano and a melodic lead guitar join together in a musicial tribute fit for any King.
Christmas Will Really Be Christmas is the only cover tune and there are two versions from which to choose. Cain hopes for peace on Earth with a pop tempo in the first version. And then laid back and swinging on version 2. Both of these versions and all the songs on Christmas Cain display a natural passion and soulful approach that is uncommon in contemporary blues recordings.
