Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Wes Craven's Scream trilogy ends with a soundtrack meant to accompany the apocalypse. With the band Creed serving as executive producers of this set, the emphasis is solidly on the sludgiest, most testosterone-driven rock possible. The lineup is a virtual who's who of the millennium's metal brigade (whether they 'fess up and call it that anymore or not). While "What If" is featured on Creed's 1999 album, Human Clay, the relatively subdued "Is This the End" was recorded specifically for the film. Additionally, Incubus, Sevendust, Powerman 5000, and other loud rock contenders contribute new tracks to the cause. It's an all-for-one approach. You'll either find this unrelenting assault of sullen, moody lyrics, hyperdistorted guitars and histrionic vocalists the perfect adrenaline rush to Craven's world of horror; or you'll scratch your head wondering how so many differently titled bands can arrive at the same sound. --Rob O'Connor

5.0 out of 5 stars Really, really good soundtrack, January 31, 2000
By A Customer
This CD is one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long time, and Scott Stapp did a great job of producing it. Every song on it is awesome-it has a lot of big names, plus some other less known bands who will hopefully gain the recognition that they deserve. The only song that was somewhat disppointing was American Pearl's "Automatic"; but even still, every song is good. It's all rock music, but there's a lot of variety. Also, Creed's new song "Is This the End" is one of my favorite songs on the CD, along with Slipknot, System of a Down, Incubus, and Finger Eleven. Creed is one of the best bands out right now, and they have a lot of talent, as do all of the bands on the soundtrack. The whole thing is just awesome, and I highly recommend you get it, because you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard core, baby!, April 17, 2000
By Erin (Gringo Island, USA) - See all my reviews
Dudes, this cd kicks. I was curious how all the artists would compliment each other on this disk, and I must confess, they blend together extrememly well. Artists like Slipknot, Creed, Static X, Fuel, and Incubus make this a must-have cd. My personal favorite is "Spiders" by System of a Down. The song is amazing in it's own rights. It starts out with a haunting guitar riff and the beautiful voice of the lead singer. I love it. Plus, the video is positively freaky. Another plus side. Don't ask how the song fits into the movie; I don't think that matters. In fact, none of the songs have anything to do with Scream 3; it's just an excuse to get some major arse kickin talent together and make one badass cd. Creed did an excellent job of compiling the artists and producing the album. So, if you like industrial rock, alternative rock, or just really like good music by some old talent--or new talent in American Pearl's case--this is THE cd for you. You will not be disappointed. If you are, just yell at me. But I guarantee it, this will become an instant favorite. Oh, yeah, Slipknot rules!

4.0 out of 5 stars More Soundtracks Like This One, Please, June 25, 2000
By "duffman121" (Fort Myers, FL) - See all my reviews
This is an amazing soundtrack, with some of the best metal and hardcore bands out there today. However, if you're a big fan of this genre of music, then you probably have most of these songs on cd already, because the majority of them aren't new tunes. That's the only reason it gets 4 stars...I would just liked to have seen more new stuff by all these great artists, because the songs that ARE new are amazing, and totally worth buying the album just for them alone. And even if you're not a fan of Creed, you must admit they did a pretty damn good job of putting all these artists onto one album. Personal faves of mine are the songs by Finger Eleven, Incubus, SOAD, Static-X, Slipknot, Powerman5000, and Full Devil Jacket. So, if you have most of these artists on cd already, buy this soundtrack anyway, because the un-released material is worth every cent, and if you don't have most of these artists on cd, then you're missing a whole lot of talent, so AT LEAST add this one to your collection. You definitely won't regret it.
