5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing, April 30, 2000
By "-zap-" (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This is NOT the 4-CD Final Fantasy VIII Original Soundtrack (OST). What it IS, though, is Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (SUCCESSION OF WITCHES is an anagram of the title), and it's amazing.

On this CD, in the great tradition of Final Fantasy soundtracks, is the Orchestrated version of selected tracks from the OST. This means that the songs have been rearranged and played by a full orchestra. If you though these songs were great before, wait 'til you hear this! A few tracks on this CD were left unchanged because they have been already orchestrated(Liberi Fatali [played during the first video], Eyes On Me, Ending Theme). There are some unlikely tracks on this CD, and you'll hear the song in a completely new way, like Fisherman's Horizon with it's cheery vocals and The Man With The Machine Gun (I love the use of violins in it!). The strangely touching song played at the begining of the Disc 2 in the game, Fragments Of Memories, is given new life, making it a lovely and moving addition to the CD.

Those are only a few of the mind-blowing tracks on the CD. Though this is a bit of a niche CD, it's a great addition to anyone's colletion, Final Fantasy fan or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC -- A Review, April 24, 2000
This CD, titled FITHOS LUSEC WECOS VINOSEC (meaning "Succession of the Witches"), is *not* the 4 CD collection of music from the Final Fantasy VIII game. Rather, it is a selection of the music remastered with a full orchestra. But don't let that deter you from picking this CD up! "Liberi Fatali", "Eyes on Me", and "Ending Theme" appear on this CD in their original form, and everyone of the other ten tracks on this CD are redone in a way that is absolutely amazing. Most striking is the title song of the CD; "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is transformed into a deeply haunting sorceress's hymn that will echo in your ears for days afterward. I highly recommend this CD...it's definitely worth every penny!
