I am a native of Japan, mother of three wonderful daughters, and an ardent student of the Koto. Due to corporate commitments, I found myself living in the States for the past two years. It was during a High School field trip to NYC, that I happened upon Dave. Dave is a student of Japanese, and is studying very hard to master the language. We became friends, and it was mentioned that Dave loved to listen to koto music. He says it is his idea of the most relaxing form of music. I agreed to record some songs at the Sarah Lauren recording facility complex, and the evolution resulted in the CD.

In addition to my, koto my husband introduces his Shakuhachi, or bamboo flute. Fashioned by hand from a bamboo stalk, this instrument is capable of a surprising variety of emotional gestures. My husband joined me by playing his Shakuhachi. He has been playing for several years, and greatly enjoyed the experience. In the summer, I return to Japan with my dear friend Sarah Lauren to perform at several locations in the vacinity of my beloved Kyoto. My CD expresses my interpretation of my instrument.

I purchased this cd after hearing Chieko Iwazaki perform. She is a wonderful musician and plays beautifully. The music is relaxing and technically very interesting. Her cd is a great reproduction of her sound and one of my new favorite additions to my collection.
