Edie, The Salsa FREAK, SalsaWeb CEO, May 1999

I've taken many private lessons from many female instructors, and one of my favorites is Josie Neglia. In the video, Josie demonstrates how she has taken virtually all her years of intense ballroom training to the Street Salsa dance floor. Her charisma and style is the envy of women around the world. Josie Neglia is in a class by herself.

That's why, when Josie told me she just completed her Ladies Styling Video, I was eager to get my hands on it, not only to do its review, but to learn a few things as well. It is clearly, one of the best I've seen.

The video starts with a beautiful introduction of movement, grace, and style, by four beautiful women (Rosi Lucero, Alma Padilla, Maria Novoa and Josie herself) in perfect synchronization. Josie then goes on to cover not only female arm movement, but sexy details such as finger placement, and facial expression.

I found her instructing the viewer just as she trains her private classes in person. Each move is covered step-by step, and demonstrated with the other women, so the viewer can see not only what Josie looks like doing the moves, but can also relate how other women with different body types and personalities look like doing the same moves.

I have to admit, my favorite part of the whole video is the ending. Josie put in some hilarious "bloopers" and makes us realize that this "Salsa Princess" is not only a real person, but a funny, and a sincere human being. My respect and admiration for this woman has always been, and always will be the very best.

Side Note: Gentlemen, I'm sure you will enjoy adding Josie's Ladies Styling to your video collection as well. The popularity of Josie's Ladies Styling class at the 1999 International SalsaWeb Convention in Washington DC was clearly evident as we all witnessed more "men" taking her ladies styling class than women.

Actually, you wouldn't be wasting that much time because the video is very short - 25 minutes, and of them, not more than 15 involve any dancing. I agree with the previous review that it is extremely difficult to follow Josie's moves unless one is standing in the exact same position as her, which would be with one's back to the TV. The very few steps she does show are only repeated a couple of times.... Now I wish I had read the previous review more carefully before I purchased the video.

This video is the worst. It lacks imagination, choreography, proper instruction and viewer consideration. Josie forgets that she is suppose to be teaching us something. The video is not about showing us styling techiniques and moves, but rather about her being in front of a camera. Skip this and buy somehing else, its not worth the money.

I have been dancing non-Latin dances for 7 years and after viewing Josie's explicit explanations about how to move every part of the body, I have a greater undersatnding of Latin Style! I was told that I used to dance salsa like a jazz dancer or "white girl", but Josie helped me to understand the proper stance, posture, weight distribution, hip action, and foot and leg action that make me dance like a Latin girl!

I have been taking lessons from male instructors for so long and that is why I never moved feminine or understood the feminine way to move like a Latina!

This video is great for technique on how to do every step looking like a Latin dancer. This is a technique video on how to move sexy and understand how the body moves to create Latin action and there were great tips on turning (two foot spins), spotting, and using the arms. The few shines that Josie and her dancers do are cute!

I got so much out of this video because of the attention to detail that Josie is a master of, which is lacking in most videos on the market.

I later purchased Josie's Advanced salsa Variations to find really cool advanced shines for ladies. Great!
