5.0 out of 5 stars St. Patrick - The Irish Legend (CD), June 2, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was so taken with the new motion picture entitled "St. Patrick - The Irish Legend" that I ordered the video, and along with the the CD. At first assuming that the CD would be a hackneyed rehash of Irish music, imagine my surprise to find that it's lyrical melodies hauntingly clung to me. I cannot say enough about this this music to do it justice. You just have to buy it yourself and play it to pieces to get my point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, spiritual, and strong in the Irish spirit!, July 24, 2000
By A Customer
I liked the movie, but I was even more impressed by the wonderful soundtrack. The score is made up of orchestrations, whistles and flutes, harp, and the touching uillean pipes. It creates the ambient mood, bringing beauty and the touch of the spiirit. It also features Breda Mayock and the Eblana Chamber Choir, whose voices sang the emotions and glory. I was also very impressed by how spiritual the music is, especially in track 13, "The Prayer" where the choir sang, "Hosanna." This music will very likely help bring you closer to God. It also brings you closer to the Irish spirit, especially in "Black Is The Color of My True Love's Hair", which is one of the best tracks on this CD. The powerful uillean pipes fill an atmosphere that touches the spirit. There also is the spiritual "Cormacus Scripsit", by the choir group Anuna. You here the soothing sounds of the whistles in "Wendel's Wedding" and "Cape Clear". There also is the haunting beauty of Clannad's "Na Laethe Bhi (The Days That Were)". "Sraid as Chloig" by Solas is another lovely song, only I don't remember hearing it in the movie. The song that didn't fit in quite as well was "Light On the Hill" by Maire Brennan of Clannad, but I suppose it's role was to tell the story of St. Patrick. In the end, I must say that this CD is very very beautiful and spiritual.
