Product Description

Editorial Review
Practice makes perfect in the world of math, but practice is more fun when it's a game instead of homework. The rules of this board game resemble those in Scrabble, but Smath is played by creating math equations instead of words. The game includes a playing board and lots of tiny tiles with numbers, signs for math operations, and brackets to create more complex equations, which players can place on the board horizontally or vertically. The game can be played at different levels of difficulty, from simple addition problems to equations combining operations (for example, (2)(2 + 3) = 5 x 2). The game is for two to four players at different levels of math proficiency, making this an educational (but still entertaining) game for the entire family, the classroom, or for home schoolers. --Marcie Bovetz

Product Description
Smath is the game that makes math fun. Now you can sharpen your math skills the fun way. This game makes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division more exciting than ever.

Players use number and symbol tiles to make math equations crossword puzzle-style. Use the tiles in your hand and the ones already on the board to build your own new equations.

Smath can be played on two different levels - one for beginners and one for more advanced players. For beginners, start with simple addition and subtraction equations. As players improve their math skills, multiplication and division can be added to game play and equations. Players score points by adding the value of the tiles they use for each equation formed. Try to increase your score by covering bonus squares with your tiles. Includes: Smath game board, 184 playing pieces, four game racks and complete instructions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like Scrabble with Numbers..., July 19, 2000
By A Customer
Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is a lot like Scrabble, only you use numbers to make math equations rather than using letters to make words. It can be played on different levels; for instance, for younger children you can eliminate the division signs or brackets to make it easier. Just like Scrabble, the harder-to-use numbers and signs have higher point values, and there are bonus squares on the board that can also increase the point value of a single tile or the whole equation. Players add on to existing equations on the board. There are enough angles to the game to keep it interesting. Towards the end, the game gets more frustrating as there are few spaces left on the board to fit equations in. If you like Scrabble and math, you'll enjoy this game. It is also a fun and social way to help kids practice their math skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Family Challenge - A Puzzling Blast :), November 9, 2002
By A Customer
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I realize some people find anything educational boring but come on... Don't blame the educational game for being exactly what it claims to be -- AN EDUCATIONAL GAME!

My kids and I both enhanced our thinking skills while spending hours around the game table playing Smath. We laughed, and we learned, while challenging ourselves and each other!

One reviewer claims the variety of plays is 'small' but I would challenge that reviewer to play again and open their mind to the endless possibilities of lengthening their equations and challenging their mind.

I played the game with three children ages 8 to 14 (two females and one male) and each of them had a blast.

This is a child's game that can challenge adults as well. What better way to bring the whole family together for some educational playtime where NO ONE need be bored.

For ANY Individual that needs to brush up on their basic math and/or logic skills and/or just enjoys a new challenge -- Smath is worth it!
