Product Description

Amazon.com
As a trimmer, Ryobi's TrimmerPlus is quiet, efficient and easy to start. But that’s just the beginning: The EZ-Link attachments turn this trimmer into a variety of other tools, all part of Ryobi’s TrimmerPlus series. The .080 line cuts a 16-inch swath, and the straight shaft gives you great reach for cutting under shrubs and low foliage. It’s a 4-cycle 26cc engine, so it’s fueled by straight gasoline, and best of all, this is one of Ryobi’s TrimmerPlus models, expanding the trimmer into a shed full of other tools by attaching different tool heads to the clever EZ-Link trimmer shaft. Ryobi makes attachments that turn this trimmer into an edger, cultivator, hedge trimmer, blower/vac and even a snowthrower. We particularly like this model because of its J-shaped handle that adjusts easily for right- or left-handed use and the comfortable foam grip that encases it. Ryobi’s clever SpeedSpool line replacement takes the hassle out of that job, too. Great power, great versatility.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Vibration, June 28, 2001
By Brian Campbell "jazzy69" (Southern California) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I purchased the 875R trimmer to replace my cheap electric one. Dragging 100ft of electrical cord became too tedious and irritating. Naturally, I wanted something quiet and free of mixing oil and gas. This unit seemed to fit the requirements at the time. But, this trimmer has excessive vibration even for a tolerant person like me. The Ryobi's seem to have significant manufacturing variations. I found that my unit will only start if I hold the throttle slightly open. Sometimes the engine compression will jerk my shoulder. If you need a 4 cycle trimmer, stay with the 825R. It is less expensive and the curved shaft will provide better control.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ryobi 875r 4 Cycle Gas Trimmer - A Positive Experience, June 18, 2000
By Richard Witt (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This spring has been exceptional rainy & warm. As a result, the grass is thick and lush. These conditions posed a real test for the Ryobi 875r. First, it was great avoiding the hassel of having to mix gas & oil. The 875r started on the 3rd pull and cut through the heavy grass with ease. The automatic "bump" line feeder worked flawlessly. I also purchased the add on edger. Even cutting through grass that had grown over the driveway, the 26 cc 4 Cycle engine ran smooth and had plently of power. Since I have not had to add new line yet, I cannot comment on that. But, I do recommend purchasing the shouldler strap if you have a lot of trimming to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great multi-purpose tool, December 14, 2000
By "mrbruiser" (Herndon, VA United States) - See all my reviews
I bought a reconditioned unit and I think it's great! It starts up very easily, and is much quieter than 2-cycle models. Not having to mix oil/gas really makes things easier too. While there is some vibration, it does not bother me at all. It is nowhere near the vibration levels that I have experienced with some chain saws. I am using this for homeowner use on a 1/4 acre lot, so I rarely get more than 30 minutes of use at any given time. I also purchased the blower/vac, edger, and hedge trimmer attachments; all work well for me, although the blower is really lite-duty. I have limited use for the blower, so it suits my needs. If you have a lot of leaves to rake, buy an Echo blower. The only reason I did not give it 5-stars is because I think the engine could be a little quieter and smoother, like my Honda mini-tiller w/4-cycle 31cc engine-- now that's a 5-star tool.

1.0 out of 5 stars OK while it works. Poor customer svc and parts availability
Same as the others. Hot elbow, weak bevel gears. The gearbox gets too hot to touch. Can't buy parts. Gas tank cracks. Vibrates terribly. But mine started OK.
