Product Description

Amazon.com Review

When the stove-top skillet isn't big enough or a recipe calls for a long simmering, place this electric skillet on the counter and plug it right into the wall. This skillet also frees up the stove for other uses, especially if you're making time-consuming recipes, such as chicken and rice or scalloped potatoes. The plug-in heat-control dial can be set as low as "warm" or as high as 425 degrees Fahrenheit. When done cooking, remove the dial and put both the skillet and lid into the dishwasher for an easy cleaning. Holds 6 to 8 servings. --Dana Van Nest

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fine Electric Skillet!, December 31, 2000
By sweetmolly (RICHMOND, VA USA) - See all my reviews

I go back to the days when electric skillets were awkward, horrible to clean and very heavy.

The West Bend is a dream, cooks evenly, easy to handle, a snap to clean and heavy enough to hold to the counter but light enough to move easily. I like the high dome for excellent steaming and I made the best fried chicken I had in a long time. The temperatures are very true. I only wish a small booklet had come with it for suggestions. I think the price is reasonable. It is an item that you'll wonder how you did without it once it is in your kitchen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't count on it for good ole fried chicken, August 9, 2001
Although this is a fine product to use instead of a nonstick pan on the stove top don't confuse it for an electric fry pan. I made a deal with my mom, I would get her a new electric fry pan to replace hers of 40 years and she would make me a nice fried chicken and dumpling dinner. The nonstick surface does not brown like the old fry pans did. It is very light weight. So much so that I was completely surprised upon opening it and I remembered right away that old saying about "if a pan is too light it's not a good pan". Sadly after spending $50.00 on this item I'm out shopping again for, yup, a "real" electric fry pan. Lower your expectations and you'll be happy with this. If you are expecting to brown foods or cook like mom did, it won't happen in this electric skillet (electric fry pan it is not).

3.0 out of 5 stars So-So, April 10, 2003

Only problem with this skillet is that the lid does not properly fit. I also wish it had a steam vent on the lid.
