5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the movie, April 7, 2000
By A Customer
I bought the CD before the movie came out, and I'm very satisfied with it. A great collection, capturing the emotions and moods of the movie quite aptly. Unfortunately, the movie itself lacked somewhat but this soundtrack can't be beat. Some highlights: If You Sleep, by Tal Bachman, I Need Love, by Sixpence None the Richer, Tic Tocs, by Tim James, 1,000 Oceans, by Tori Amos, and Skyfall, by Neve. The orchestral score and Birches are lovely, emotive works. They brought tears to my eyes even before I saw the tear-jerker movie. This CD really has appeal for everyone, from classical (the orchestral pieces), to rock (Pick A Part That's New, Sterophonics) to pop (Where You Are, by Jessica Simpson), to folk (Sixpence's selections) to alternative (Skyfall's contribution and Devin's "Whatever Turns You On.."). It's both fun (Tic Tocs) and serious (If You Sleep). It's intelligent (We Have Forgotten) and romantic (Birches). I guarantee that everyone will find at least one track on this CD that they appreciate, and most people should find the entire collection delightful and thought-provoking.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you loved the movie, you'll love this soundtrack, August 20, 2000
By YosemiteRose (San Diego) - See all my reviews
I fell in love with this movie and had to get the soundtrack and its wonderful! You see the movie in your mind as you listen to the songs. . . like "I Need Love" you see Kelley danceing with the cows. . . "Whatever Turns You on Turns Me On" you see Sam danceing around making brakefast. . . "Tic Tocs" you see Jasper give Sam a hug as they make up. . . "1000 Oceans" you see Kelley and Sam being apart from each other. . . etc. Its like seeing the movie with just listening to it. If you are a fan of HERE ON EARTH I recommend this cd highly. Its a must have with the movie! With its extra bouns of the track BRICHES where Sam and Kelley are reading it adds the cherry to the top. . . the best part. :) Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do! :)
