Product Description

Amazon.com Review

With its dappled appearance, this 1-square-foot chopping block from Catskill is an attractive and practical addition to the kitchen. Its unique mixture of woods makes this block stand out among the standard pine cutting boards. The board has a groove running around the perimeter to capture any rolling foods or liquids, and it flips over easily to become a serving platter for antipasti or a classic fruit and cheese array. Because of the thickness of the board, it can also be used as a trivet for hot dishes. --Dana Van Nest

1.0 out of 5 stars Not that great, May 16, 2001
I had high hopes for this product, but ultimately it failed to live up to any of them. It looked nice and sturdy, and the pictures were very attractive, but it was neither. When I got it it had rough edges in need of sanding, and while heavy didn't appear to be all that well made. After less then 1 month of use, no pounding on it, no dishwasher, no leaving it in the sink, its broken already. I'm a good cook, I own lots of nice cooking equipment, I take good care of all of it but this board just didn't last. I always washed it quickly, dried it well, and stored it in a nice flat safe drawer with nothing banging into it. It still split in under 1 month. If you're looking for a cheese board this might be it, but it didn't stand up to average use in my household.

This board is not worth the money. We owned it for all of two weeks and it broke into pieces. Do not buy! Fair warning.

1.0 out of 5 stars VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS BOARD., January 30, 2003
By A Customer
I am very unhappy with this Board by Catskill Craftsman. I had high hopes for this board. I loved the looks of it. When it arrived I felt it was dry & rough. I first used an entire 8 oz. kit of a Woodenware Care & Repair Kit that I had purchased for $10.00. I had read the reviews here & knew I was taking a chance - but I'm very gentle on all items & knew I would take excellent care of it. Yet 3 months later, with never being washed in the dishwasher, hand-washed, always dried off & reoiled; it has cracked in two places. I feel this board is defective. I wouldn't reccomend it at all. ...I would never reccomend anyone wasting their money on this board. The quality control & the product are poor at best.
