Editorial Reviews

From the Actor
I first met Emmy and Peabody award-winning producer Jim Carr at an adventure travel show in Atlanta in February 1998. A couple of months later, we decided that Jim would film one of Specops' tours in Costa Rica.

The Big Adrenaline Rush! is an extreme adventure designed and led by U.S. Special Forces veterans across some of the most beautiful and exotic locations in Costa Rica.

After talking with other tour operators, lodges and transportation companies just days prior to filming, the Specops 8-minute corporate video was quickly transforming into a broadcast-quality production called Travel on the Edge. Teaming with Costa Rica based award-winning producer Gordon Durnin who filmed the project on betacam, and fusion-rocker Manrique Guido creating the video's unique sound, Travel on the Edge transformed into a 90-minute broadcast-quality production with an original sountrack.

The video shows exploding volcanoes, whitewater rafting, Scubadiving Guanacaste and Cano Island, bungee jumping, surfing Ollie's Point and Witch's Rock; we glide through rainforest canopies with The Original Canopy Tour, reel in a giant sailfish, and leap out of flying helicopters.

Interviews with resort managers and tour operators complete this information-packed and visually stimulating travelouge. It's the perfect way to see it before you do it and for travel agents specializing in this incredibly diverse adventure tourism destination.

I hope you like it,

Jay Stanka

I viewed this video several times before travaling to Costa Rica. I found the tape very useful in making travel plans and used the author's tour suppliers for most of the trip.

The video was fun to watch and was fast paced action thoughout!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome adrenlaline rush, April 9, 2000
By Jeffrey Randall (Alabama USA) - See all my reviews
If you're interested in adventure tourism then this is the place to start. Having traveled all over Latin America with the actor, Jay (The Stankman) Stanka, I can say the video accurately portrays what's available in Costa Rica.

Jim Carr does an excellent production job. All the way from filming participants bailing out of helicopters to jumping off one of the highest bungee jumps in the world.

Costa Rica is the happening place for travel on the edge, while remaining in the confines of a safe and settled country.

Get the video before you decide to book one of those disney world eco-tours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great travel film, September 18, 2008
By T. Fisher (IL, United States) - See all my reviews

If you want an entertaining approach to learning about Costa Rica, I recommend it. It's a little off the beaten path. It's a great "extra" film for the classroom. There is just one part at the end that I personally do not want to show my students but since it's the end of the film it's easy to just stop the film at that point. Otherwise it's worth checking out.
