5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh new material, April 19, 2000
By A Customer
If you saw the movie, you gotta get the soundtrack. First of all, this is simply a dope mix -- Raekwon's already strong in his comeback after Immobilarity, blessing It's not a Game and Wake Up (both ill). The two hyped tracks on this are kind of mediocre: the Xzibit one is OK; The Dead Prez collabo was kind of dissapointing. The Prodigy, Everlast/E-Swift, and ACT tracks are all slammin. My favorite is You (Samuel Christian/Mos Def) -- simple and beautiful. If you saw the movie, the ridiculous LV and Michael Fredo songs will make sense. I can't believe peoples are buying the Romeo Must Die soundtrack instead of this. Mad straight bangin cuts.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not even a hip-hop fan, April 6, 2000
By A Customer
I bought this soundtrack for one reason, the song "It's not a Game." The song has an elegant violin track mixed with hardcore rapping. When i saw the movie and heard the song, i knew i had to have it, so i bought it. I suggest you do the same.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great songs & horrible songs makes an average album, July 18, 2005
By G$ "Z-Wad" (B-More, MD) - See all my reviews

For the 10 rap songs on here, 1 classic, 4 great ones, 3 ok ones and 2 horrible ones, plus 3 bad R&B songs. It has some big names and some not as well know cats. RZA,Raekwon & American Cream Team, Xzibit, Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Big Pun (R.I.P.) Kool G Rap, & Young Nooble & Napoleon of the Outlawz provide the quality songs on the album.

#1 - 9.5 (Raekwon, American Cream Team, RZA)
#2 - 7.5 (xzibit)
#3 - 8.5 (prodigy of mobb deep)
#4 - 9 (kool g rap & big Punisher (R.I.P.})
#5 - 7 (everlast)
#6 - 9 (raekwon)
#7 - 2 (dead prz)
#8 - 9 (american cream team & young noble & napoleon off the Outlawz)
#9 - 10 (classic by: american cream team)
#10 - 4 (queen pen f/ joe hooker -)
#11 - 3 (R&B song)
#12 - 4 (l.V. -- another r&b song)
#13 - 1 (one more r&b song)
