Amazon.com Review

If a slow-roasted chicken or rich ratatouille sounds incredibly tempting, this round French oven, a great casserole dish, will help satiate your cravings. The versatility of Le Creuset's dish lets you prepare a recipe on the stove and then move it to the oven, or bake it completely in the oven and then transfer it to table and finally into the dishwasher. This pan has been fashioned in France from porcelain enamel cast iron, giving it a durable weight and a beautiful finish. Also, cast iron distributes heat evenly and requires cooking with only low to medium temperatures. The pan's design and tight fitting lid keep the moisture in with foods (to avoid drying) and maintain full flavor. Always cool this pan before washing, and avoid abrasive pads or cleaners. --Teresa Simanton

Product Description

Cook on the stovetop then move food into the oven using this 3.5-qt. Round Dutch Oven. Ideal for cooking and re-heating risotto, soups, stew, chowders and for simmering or slow-cooking foods. Secure lid seals in all the moisture and flavor. Move it from stovetop to oven when you're ready. Cast iron enameled French oven retains heat well and is beautiful enough to bring right to the table as you serve. Features sturdy, cast handles on sides so you can lift and carry with ease. Safe to use with metal utensils. Oven-safe to 450 degrees F. About Le Creuset... Since 1925, artisans have been crafting Le Creuset cookware in the French village of Fresnoy Le Grand. Each piece of Le Creuset cast iron cookware is handcast, polished, double enamel-coated and then fired, resulting in some of the finest quality cookware available. Cast iron is one of the best materials for distributing heat gently and thoroughly and is ideal for induction ranges. The strong enamel coating will not absorb odors or flavors, and is easy to clean. Heavy lids securely seal in moisture and flavor. Le Creuset cookware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and styles to match any kitchen and cooking preference. So lasting, you'll pass on your Le Creuset on to the next generation of promising cooks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creuset Casseroles are the Best, May 11, 2000
By Eric Antonow (Palo Alto, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The single best pots for doing rich chicken dishes and the like. Conducts heat perfectly, well-balanced and very easly to clean. So many great meals have emerged from these pots that I tend to cook more frequently, especially the more slow-cooking or complex dishes.

I inheirited one of these pots and then bought another. Since then I have excused all similar imitations from the kitchen.

If I had to equipt my kitchen with 3 cooking pots/pans, this would come right after the skillet and sauce pan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic pot, February 11, 2005
By The Smiths "sann3187" (Front Range, CO, USA) - See all my reviews
I received this for Christmas and use it almost every day. So far nothing has stuck, not even when I burned the pudding (it came out with a rubber scrapper). It is a breeze to clean and a joy to use. I will definitly buy more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful thing to have in your kitchen!, June 15, 2007
By H. Mechler "Kitchen Fiend" (Tuscaloosa, AL, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This 3.5 qt French Oven is such a great pot for things such as soups, stews, and larger batches of sauce. It heats evenly and you can usually get away with a lower heat level than called for in a recipe because the heat distribution is really effective. I've already made a number of tasty dishes in this pan, and I can't imagine what I did before I owned this. 3.5 quarts doesn't sound like a lot, but it's plenty of room for a couple or small family. I highly recommend this for cooks of all levels!
