Nicolas Cage plays Randall "Memphis" Raines, a former legendary car thief (who could guarantee any car "gone in 60 seconds") drawn back into the life to save his younger brother from an unfortunate fate. Surprisingly, the music accompanying this car-centric action film isn't the high-speed chase you might expect. Instead, it's a diverse, textured amalgam of styles from the heated polemics of Ice Cube (the explicit version of "Roll All Day" is on the soundtrack, the censored version is in the film) to the art rock of critics' fave Gomez ("Machismo") and the acclaimed electronica of the Chemical Brothers. Perennial soundtrack contributor Moby delivers the previously unreleased moody trip-out "Flower," while the Cult perform songwriter-for-hire Diane Warren's "Painted on My Heart," which is essentially the AOR the band once sought all those years ago. Best are the collaborations: Groove Armada, featuring M.A.D., handle "Rap," an ominous, layered, keyboard-based rap, and BT, featuring Soul Coughing's M. Doughty, up the beat cycle slightly for the psychedelically driving and heavily melodic "Never Gonna Come Back Down." --Rob O'Connor

Wow, while the movie features some exciting breakneck action with a relatively lame plot, the soundtrack manages to conjure up more exciting images. A very well-rounded mix of artists such as the Cult, Moby, Method Man and DMX rock the house on this soundtrack. Strangest thing about it though, the best song on the album is from relatively unknown Caviar. Their "Sugarless" reeks of the kind of bravado, swagger and depravity that made this country what it is today. Songwriter Blake Smith has penned one of the cleverest songs out today replete with stellar guitar riffs that would make even The Ramones get excited. Buy this album for this song alone, let alone the Chemical Brothers, Gomez and believe it or not-Trevor Rabin. A must own for soundtracks.

The movie cemented my love of cars, the soundtrack cemented my love of Techno. Which is what this Disc is really about. Techno, rock, Rap...its all in there, if you even remotely like any one of those genres, you'll love this CD.

The disc starts off with the Movie's title track, (and a pretty good song too) "Painted on my heart" By The Cult. Then immediately catapults into a sweet mix of Techno and rock. "never gonna come back down" By BT is quite possibly the best song ive ever heard (and is even better if you can find the lyrics!). Also along for the ride are Apollo Four Forty, The chemical brothers, A3, and Gomez.

Unfortunately, many songs are missing...many GOOD songs. Busy Child by The Crystal Method, If Everybody Looked the Same By Groove Armada, Nocturnal Transmission by BT, Ride on Josephine by some guy, and for a very strange reason Lowrider By War is also missing. These songs certanly add flavor to the CD, but arent really that big of loss. The CD rules anyway. (...)

Just be sure you Omit the god-awful Rap songs!

The is probably, no, it IS, the best soundtrack I have ever heard. I saw the movie when I was in Florida and bought the cd there. I kid you not when I tell you that we listened to this cd the whole 13 hour drive back to Kentucky. And I am still listening to it right now. It has the perfect mixture or rock, rap, and techno. If there is only one bad thing about this cd, it's that if you are listening to it in the car, you will sooner or later probably get a ticket, because this cd makes you want to go about 120 mph when driving. The movie was so awesome,I saw it twice, and I am going to go see it again tonight. The movie rocks because of the awesome cars and the action,of course, but still, a lot of the credit for the quality of the movie goes to the music. One question: Where is Lowrider?
