5.0 out of 5 stars Moss,The Surreptitous Rock Star, July 28, 2000
"Scotch Tape And Spit" is one of the the best albums I have heard all year! Moss's compelling lyrics and catchy (yet not overly simplistic) tunes sneak up and lodge in the listener's brain. In the case of almost any other artist, this would be annoying, or even scary, but Moss just makes your day more fun. His music is full of delicious contradictions; punk rawk with violins, lyrics touched by bravado yet self-effacing and quirky, rants of social malaise and beautiful love poems. Most impressive is the fact that he created all of the tracks on both of his albums by himself. He may also be the only musician yet to make use of the kazoo as the proud and manic instrument that it truly is. This magically addictive album is to be listened to with an open mind and tongue placed firmly in cheek. Moss is already a rock star in my mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this CD!, June 15, 2000
By A big fan (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
Moss just keeps getting better and better. I love the electric violin solos, the lyrics that range from really funny to painfully honest, and Moss's incredible voice. These are songs that get stuck in your head and stay there. The range of music styles is amazing too: from pop to slide guitar blues to Kurt Weil. Moss is really one of a kind.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scotch tape and spit, June 14, 2000
By A Customer
Scotch tape and spit is a delightfully provocative, raw and complex album, and one that is not for the faint of heart. Like Ani DiFranco and a select few other such independent musicians, Moss is courageous enough to break away from the formulaic in order to expose his own vulnerabilities, quirks and dreams. His music has overtones of many different genres, from music hall to klezmer, rock and roll to folk. In part because it is not elaborately produced, the album has a strangely intimate feel. It is the musical equivalent of Being John Malkovitch, a piece that leaves you bemused, mystified and oddly euphoric.
