Overall: Great Deal / Tested: Jogging / Power: Minus, August 17, 2000
This is my first portable CD Player - so I can not compare to different models. Bought the KOSS mainly because of the excellent customer reviews. I need the CD Player for street/park running, so the Anti-Skip is essential to me.---OVERALL---Excellent sound (switch the bass extension ON!), even with the included headphones. The headphones fits well and are light enough for running. The price is excellent, but if you add ... UPS shipping it's getting closer to other models on the market. The design is VERY cool, the functionality is good. ---ANTI-SKIP---Always let the KOSS load his memory first, which takes about 30-40 sec after the anti-skip is switched on. While runnig, if the CD Player stays in HORIZONTAL position (like I am using it in the car), there is nearly no skipping at all. This is not only related to the Anti-Skip memory, but also to the new Plus Anti-Rolling System. VERTICAL, it looks different. While running, as soon as I forgot to hold my CD Player like a full plate, it starts skipping. But I guess NO portable CD can do better. So, it works for running, but if you want free hands, you will probably use tape or MP3 (even clipping on the belt does NOT work.) ---POWER CONSUMPTION---Used 3/4 volume, Anti-Skip always on, bass extension always on: My batteries died after 1 1/2 hour! This could be better! So, ok, if the device eats power, fine with me - BUT there is NO indication of the actual condition of the batteries. And this is not good, since I don't want to carry a second set of batteries, if I go for running. The battery low indicator switch's on maybe 20 seconds before the batteries are dead. This does not make sense to me. For jogging, the HOLD switch is a VERY useful feature. ---CAR ADAPTER KIT--- Perfect - It works just great. If you don't get a clear signal, try to use the line output instead of the headphone output. During driving, there is no skipping at all (Anti-Skip "on" AND the player in horizontal position). So, overall, this device is a great deal. I give 4 stars only because of the missing ACTUAL power indication. No deduction for the Anti-Skip in vertical position, since no CD Player will overcome this problem as of today. If you need something for cross-country running or heavy mountain biking - go with the good old cassette player!

Doesn't Get Better Than Koss!, August 2, 2000
A Kid's Review
It took me a while to find out about KOSS. I tried Sony and Panasonic and even GPX(boy was THAT a mistake!). Then I found KOSS. I bought the green version of this model first, and I fell in love with it the minute I heard it. I listened to it every day, until about a month later the headphones wire got caught on something and when I pulled on it, not knowing what it was, the unit detatched from the headphones and fell on the floor and broke. I went back online to buy it again, and they were out of stock, so I bought this one. I found out that it was even BETTER than my old one. Pros: *Absolutely NO skipping *Headphones and unit both deliver crisp clear sound *Reads all CD-R discs and compact discs *Light *Awesome design *Car adapter *cheap Cons: *Eats up batteries like crazy If you want an awesome discman at a great price, here it is!

Great looking, great quality, and a GREAT price!, August 2, 2000
I just bought this Koss a few weeks ago. Its absolutely perfect! It looks great, the buttons are excellently located and they are very large and readable. In a lot of reviews, they said the Anti-Skip is not good. The reason is, as you can see on the LCD display, the anti-skip doesn't come on instantly, you have to wait about 15-30 seconds for it to load completely. but that 15-30 seconds is definetely worth it! it DOES NOT skip AT ALL. Even without it, when I'm in a car and I listen, it still doesnt skip. if you shake it, of course it would skip a little, but what would you expect? The Anti-Skip rarely needs to be used in cars or when walking. It's very light, which is great for running and walking or any traveling. What I like most about my Koss is..the value! It's a great price, and it has features that i would expect from a $100 diskman! At first, when I bought it, I didnt really trust it because Koss isnt really a household name. But I was wrong, its great! But there is one extra thing you should buy with any diskman that I highly recommend. A holder for it. It protects it, and it carries it around without you holding it (even though the Koss is light, its nice to have one). I highly reccomend this diskman, and if I were you, I WOULD GET IT! you'll see what a great diskman it is. I really mean it!
