A locking CD lid keeps water out, while two built-in, water-resistant speakers deliver stereo output. The AM/FM radio offers 20 station presets (10 AM and 10 FM) and digital tuning. All the while, its digital clock keeps you on schedule. It even includes a three-preset sleep timer (30, 60, 90 minutes) that's great for lounging in the tub.

Mounting accessories are included, giving you a range of placement options, and you'll find the backlit LCD very useful. The built-in headphone jack and auxiliary and AC inputs offer connectivity options. An external FM antenna is supplied, while an AM antenna is built-in. The MC1008 runs on six C batteries or a 9-volt adapter (neither included).

1.0 out of 5 stars Played one cd and died! Junk!, April 22, 2002
By A Customer
My parents introduced this as my "expensive" Christmas gift, so I feel bad that they wasted so much money.
I put in the 6 C batteries and by the end of the cd, they were nearly drained. I bought more, but I couldn't get anything to work - no radio reception, screen read "error" every time I put in a cd. I bought an adapter, but still couldn't get it to work again. I tried for so long to get it going. Wish I'd read the reviews on this site earlier. I would've accepted that it was a shoddy product much earlier. Memorex has some cheek!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality ... poor product., August 8, 2001
This is a terrible excuse for a shower radio. The AM and FM reception is terrible wherever you take it in the shower or not. When I tried using the antenna that is included, it still didn't work any better.

The sound quality is poorer than expected. I didn't anticipate much from such a little system, but it's worse than anything I've ever experienced.

To make matters worse this Shower radio eats batteries like crazy. We orginally used regular alkaline and the batteries died after about 2 days of use. We probably ony used it once or twice. Then we bought rechargeable batteries and it ate those faster than the alkaline batteries.

This product is a total waste of money. Before this we had a Sony . I highly recommend it as it didn't eat the batteries and the radio reception was much better. The only downside is that it lacks the cd player. However you can't really use the cd player with the Memorex, because the batteries wouldn't last for more than 3 songs on a cd.

Next project is to write to Memorex to complain about this horrible product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Set Fire To 4 Twenty Dollar Bills - It Is Easier!, March 17, 2001

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Uses and drains 6 size "C" Batteries in 38 minutes. I bought the rechargeables, drains those quicker. I bought an adapter. It plays for 20 seconds, stops and says ERROR. If I saved the box and sales slip, I would return it. JUNK - JUNK - JUNK. Sounds like speakers in soup cans.

UPDATE: September 2009
I have not bought a Memorex product since!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall good product
This product is a great product, the only cons I have found is that it does not play mp3 cds. It works great, has preset stations, and volumes that can be heard over running water!
