4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR THE REBEL, LOSER, AND OUTCAST IN ALL OF US, August 21, 2000
By Rocky (Canton, MI United States) - See all my reviews
This cd is a nice listen because all the songs are up-beat with a punk style I haven't heard in a while. The only spot where this album falls short is the length ... but thats normal for punk/skater type music. "Teenage Dirtbag" is a song that everyone can relate to because we've all wanted a girl/boy that was out of our league. My other favorite song is definitely "Punk azzed B" because it's about that person who just makes makes you cringe at the very thought of them (the chorus really hits the nail on the head). The lead singer has a genuinely awesome voice that is reminiscent of "Riff-Raff's" in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." I think these guys will really make a dent in the industry with their next album, but for now ... this one will give you a good taste of their style. A good buy all the way around.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm just a Teenage Dirtbag, August 20, 2000
By Paul Camden (Washinton DC) - See all my reviews
Wheatus' self titled album is a refreshing sound of the new style of punk rock. The album is slightly similar to the sounds of Blink 182, but Wheatus is not as commercial. This CD is great if your just looking for a good time but musically it is not a masterpiece. All in all it is worth the money, although there are many other bands with the same musical stylings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected..., September 29, 2000
By subpolka "subpolka" (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
I bought this CD after hearing Teenage Dirtbag incessantly played on the radio. Thought the song was a wee generic - though infectious - and expected the album to be full of the same, having already chalked Wheatus up as a one-hit wonder. I was wrong. Surprisingly, Teenage Dirtbag isn't even the best song on there. The songs cover a pretty broad range of styles (instead of being cookie-cutter crap); the relatively mellow A Little Respect seems almost out of place when sized up against the rest of the album. The lyrics are original and more intelligent than most of the trash that is on constant radio spin, the lead's voice is so prepubescently appealling, and the best tracks on there - Truffles and Wannabe Gangster - are too good to pass by. What else is there to say? Buy the album. You'll like.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Respect
This entire album is full of great songs. Since this came out in 2000, I've always found it to be one of my favorite albums. Each song is different from the last.

I love this band. They are original. Anymore, they aren't because bands COPY THEM. They're not sell-outs, and all the songs on the album don't sound the same. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh
Teenage Dirtbag is some pop rock genius, for its time anyway, but as for everything else...Wheatus seem like they are trying too hard to be "punk" or "edgy" and such. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth your time or your money
A throwaway album of filler whose only success can be creditted to the admitedly infectious 'Teenage Dirtbag' (of which every other song on the album sounds like a clone). Read more
