Biography

Dave Grohl (lead vocals, guitars, drums) founded the Foo Fighters with his producer pal Barrett Jones after the death of Kurt Cobain marked the end of Nirvana in 1994. The Foos went on to become one of the biggest alt rock bands of the 90s.

Grohl had built up an arsenal of songs over the preceding years, prompting him to record a demo which eventually resulted in the 1995 debut album, Foo Fighters.… Read more in Amazon's Foo Fighters Store

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, August 24, 2003
By Jennifer (Richmond, va United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breakout (Audio CD)
There's no B-side and the live songs are poorly mixed. I'd buy the album and skip the single. It's not worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars a good single, but a little short, August 7, 2000
By "larry_mcgee" (Moscow, China) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Breakout (Audio CD)
okay, it was way too short (11:49), but that's what you get when you buy a single, I always try to put the track listing on these, because the site doesn't have the decency to do that itself. i'm just gonna compare the two versions here. You have the Aussie single (the ten buck version) and the Japanese single (the 25 buck version) so the differences are shown.

First the Aussie version features three songs: Breakout, Monkeywrench (live, a decent version but the album cut is a lot better) and Next Year (also live, the album cut is good, and this is almost as good, you really need to see the video) so this really has nothing new for you. I thought it was a decent CD, Monkeywrench could be a lot better, but all in all it's decent.

Next, the Japanese version ($25) has five songs: Breakout, Iron and Stone (B-side only found here and the Learn to Fly single), Ain't It the Life (live & acoustic, better than the album version and just amazing, but it's also already on the Generator and Stacked Actors singles), Learn to Fly (live), and Stacked Actors (live).

In other words, both of these CD's are nothing new, and keep your money unless you really like the Foos (like myself) and are a collector.
