5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME DISPLAY OF CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS, June 25, 2001
By J (U.K) - See all my reviews
A simply awesome documentary featuring some of the finest displays of Chinese Martial Arts ever captured on film. Although there is not much footage of Jet Li there are many performances from some of China's finest martial artists including:

Yu Shao Wen: who performs an exellent Chang style (Chang Quan) Routine.

Wang Jien Jun: another awesome martial artist like Jet Li, he performs an exellent Staff Routine and a simulated combat sparring set.

Zhao Chang Jun: Awesome Ditang (Ground Tumbling) Routine.

Hao Zhi Hua: China's queen of Kung Fu performing Broadsword and a sparring set.

Li Zhi Zhou: One of my personal favourites performing the best Drunken Sword you will ever see.

and many many more

This is Kung Fu is really for those who have a deep interest in Chinese Martial Arts ("Wushu" as it is known as) and there are not just empty hand styles but just about every Chinese Weapon you can think of. GET IT

P.S: I also strongly recommend Dragons of the Orient which is another documentary which is very similar to this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes you wanna kick somebodies head off, December 19, 2000
This is a documentary of the Chinese martial arts called Wushu. If you are the person who hate sitting trough boring documentary videos, than this is for you and I'm gonna tell you why. This video does contain some "blab blab" history of where martial arts came from. Luckily, you have that trusty remote control to fast forward to the awesome parts of the video, Wushu. If you have not seen Wushu in action, this is the video to look at. It has some footage of the great Jet Li showing off his skills ,as well as other martial artists. It features many styles that includes: Tai Chi, Praying Mantis, Snake, Dog, Monkey, and others. This documentary also features weapons such as the metal whip chain, broadsword, 3-sectional staff, and other weapons that you shouldn't try at home. Another video I would recommend is "Dragon's of the Orient," another documentary of Wushu that features Jet Li. After watching "This is Kungfu", I felt like I wanna "Kick some tail!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Do not look him down!, June 16, 2001
By Bernhard H. Klinder (Cleveland, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"Do not look him down" is one of many hilariously poor translations in this Chinese government [...] film that promotes nationalism and highlights the health aspects of KungFu and Wushu. If you are a die hard Kung Fu/Wushu fan, you'll enjoy the endless footage of Shaolin monks and China's top rated martial artists performing a wide variety of styles and demonstrating weapons. The content is simply amazing, and the footage of Jet Li when he was very young is astounding. On the other hand, the narration is so poor, the political agenda so blatant, and English translation so bad, that the film is actually quiet comical. What makes it even funnier is the martial arts "chop sake" movie sound effects added to every scene, and the unsubtle attemps by the directors to "speed up" some of the demonstrations for added affect.
