Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Elegant yet practical, this heavyweight, 18/10 stainless-steel flatware features European-style, oversize heads; retains its mirror-finish luster without polishing; and is dishwasher-safe. The clean, contemporary design complements nearly any style of dinnerware. Tapered handles with rounded ends that turn up slightly at the ends characterize the Islet pattern. This 53-piece set consists of full service for 8 diners, plus a service set containing a 7-3/4-inch butter knife, a 7-inch sugar spoon, an 8-3/4-inch serving fork, and 2 serving spoons, each 8-1/2 inches long. Each 6-piece setting consists of an 8-1/8-inch dinner fork, a 7-3/8-inch salad fork, a 7-3/8-inch soup spoon, a 9-inch knife, and 2 teaspoons, each 6-1/8 inches long. --Reviewer

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! A heavier everyday set..., December 11, 2000
By Stacey L. (Long Island, NY United States) - See all my reviews
I searched long and hard to find an affordable flatware set that had some weight behind it. Oneida has definitely done it with this set. The pattern also goes with either contemporary or traditional decor. Holds up well, I wash it in the dishwasher.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Makes Me Feel Like Eating at Home More Often, April 5, 2001
By Maria V. Martinez (South San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the first flatware set I ever bought. I am very happy with this flatware. It is actually bigger than I thought it would look. I think it would be perfect for dinnerwares that are bigger than normal like Fiestaware. It also has some weight to it like flatwares usually found in "expensive" restaurants. I am not really fond of shiny or mirror-finish flatwares and I was not suppose to buy any of the sort. However, I think, the mirror-finish actually compliments the flatware's size and understated elegance. Eating frozen dinner with this flatware feels like an event now.

I was looking at other flatware brands before settling on Oneida. I chose Oneida, because you can easily re-order individual pieces from their company website. ...You will never know if you need to add more place settings or replace damaged or missing pieces. I personally have the habit of losing teaspoons! Oohh! I need more of those serving spoons and forks too!

One last thing... I noticed that if I do not wipe the flatware after washing and let it dry by itself, it gets water stains. (This is my first flatware. Maybe water stains are a normal occurrence?) It easily comes off if you re-wet the flatware and wipe it off. Oneida said... "It is stainless ... not stain proof. Discoloration can be caused by ingredients found in tea, coffee, salad dressing, vinegar and salt. Pitting or spotting are usually caused by hard water or from foods with high salt content.... Use a good quality stainless cleaner... to remove the 'build up' caused by minerals."

Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars A LOT OF HEADACHE - DO NOT BUY, September 20, 2002
By A Customer
I purchased this set a few months ago. When I received it, EVERY ONE of the forks were messed up. I think they were having trouble with their cutting machine that day. The tips were uneven and SHARP. Well, I called Oneida and they DID replace the forks. When I got the replacements, one of the NEW ones was like that. I would assume this is a common problem. For almost a hundred dollars, I would expect this to be in good shape. Also, the utensils are just TOO BIG and THICK, not easy to use at all. I am very disappointed with this purchase.

This is a great value. They aren't the nicest set around but they've got a good weight to them and the design is simple. No complaints at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars The flatware is not what's pictured in the photo!
Beware - the photo is entirely different from what the flatware actually looks like. It's a very distinctive, contemporary style with the forks and spoons almost circles. Read more
