Product Description

Amazon.com Review

A great combination for the serious do-it-yourselfer or professional, Porter-Cable's 19.2-volt Quad Pack combo kit comes with four of the most popular and useful portable tools in the Porter-Cable line. First, as with many of the Porter-Cable combo kits, this one comes with two ni-cad rechargeable batteries and a diagnostic charger with an LED warning system. The batteries are interchangeable so they'll work with other Porter-Cable 19.2-volt tools. Each charges in less then an hour and provides plenty of run time for most uses. The batteries have a unique slide-on loading system in the base of each tool that makes battery attachment extremely tight and almost impervious to wear. The 19.2-volt hammer drill has a 1/2-inch keyless chuck that's easy to adjust and reacts quickly to the trigger. It offers 390 inch-pounds of maximum torque, a 20-position clutch, and a two-speed gearbox that does up to 1,500 rotations per minute and 19,500 beats per minute. This is plenty of power for any home-based project, and generally plenty of power for professionals. It's relatively lightweight and, in our opinion, as solid as any drill/driver we've used. The Saw Boss 19.2-volt cordless circular saw uses a 6-inch blade, turns up to 3,250 rpm, and makes up to 100 crosscuts on two-by-four material on a single charge. There's an easy-to-adjust guide plate for both bevel and depth of cut. The 19.2-volt Tiger Saw offers a Quik-Change blade clamp, a 1-inch stroke, and variable speed up to 2,900 strokes per minute. The grips are well designed and easy to hold. We were impressed with the solid feel and smooth cut of the Saw Boss and Tiger Saw, and quickly found ourselves reaching for these cordless tools more often than their corded counterparts. Finally, the flashlight offers a 110-degree swiveling head and heavy-duty xenon bulb and comes with an extra bulb. --Jonathon Tudor

4.0 out of 5 stars Corded power in a cordless package, December 6, 2000
By "sturch4552" (Shenorock, NY United States) - See all my reviews
Porter Cable has got it right with this package. I own mostly Makita corded and cordless tools, this is my first purchase of Porter Cable. I was skeptical that all four tools would fit neatly into a compact package. They do and the power is much better then I expected. The circular saw with a provided thin kerf blade zips through 2x lumber and plywood with little effort. These tools are heafty (19.2 volt battery is sizeable), but seem no heavier than their corded counterparts. The batteries charge fully in about an hour with the included charger. If you like professional quality tools in a package that includes all the basics, you can't go wrong with this package.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent deal, March 5, 2001
By "bru333" (Sebastopol, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I've had experience with the Dewalt 18 volt quad pack and some cordless Bosch products. Some noteworthy differences: the Porter Cable reciprocating saw has a quick change blade but unlike the convenient Dewalt lever, the rotating lock is only accessible with the stroke extended. This means you have to play with the trigger until saw stops in the right position before you can change your blade. The Bosch cordless drill has a cool auto lock deal that lets you loosen or tighten the chuck one handed. Porter Cable's and Dewalt's do not. Porter Cable's circular saw is nice and quite but with no noticeable power increase over Dewalt's 18 volt equivalent. The rest of the Porter Cable package seems to have plenty of power.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful set of cordless tools, February 5, 2001
By E. Dagley (DANVERS, MA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I recently purchased the quad pack and used each tool extensively in a project. Each tool's power was impressive and performed extremely well to any given job. The hammer/drill and saw boss ran well over an hour with constant use from their own battery. My only complaint (minor) was that the tiger saw ran only 20 mins with constant use. The result was down time waiting for the charger to charge the battery. If two tools are going to be in use I believe an additional (3rd) battery would be beneficial that could be kept on charge.
