5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than you remembered!, October 4, 2000
By A Customer
This is the kind of album that makes me wish I had a convertible. When you hear these songs you just want to put the top down and drive all over town. I saw this CD advertised on television recently, and I must admit, it seemed too good to be true. In my opinion, the songs selected for this compilation are some of the very best songs of the 50s and early 60s...and they're all on one disc! Although the vocals on some of the original cuts are unpolished, it only seems to add to the nostalgic appeal of it all. These are the original recordings as you have heard them for the past million years, and as usual, the Rhino sound quality is excellent. Rabble rousers like "Whispering Bells" and "Stay" especially seem to glow with excitement. And of course, the excellent quality means that smoothies like "Save the Last Dance for Me" can still make your knees melt, like the first time you heard them. This album is fun. You will know the words to almost everything here. So go ahead...put the top down and sing your lungs out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doo Wop Til You Drop, May 8, 2001
This is an amazing collection of nearly an hour's worth of doo wop classics from the golden age of doo wop, roughly 1955 through 1962. To the average listener of oldies radio, these are all readily recognizable tunes since this collections leans heavily toward the chart hits--more than half of these were Top Ten hits and "Duke of Earl," "Yakety Yak," "Get a Job," "Blue Moon," "Save the Last Dance for Me," "Little Star" and "Stay" all reached the No. 1 spot.

As usual, Rhino provides crisp, clean sound and informative liner notes. If this only whets your appetite for more and you'd like to delve a little deeper into the vaults, consider Rhino's superb Doo Wop Box--101 tracks of pure bliss. But as a starter, this is an excellent place to begin. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Are Here On One CD, November 14, 2002
The back of this CD reads "You can spend your time running around town, buying up each ba bb ba, every dang a dang dang, and all the ding dong dings you can get your hands on. Or you can go about it the right way. Pick up this one disc and hear the ultimate 22 doo wop cuts of all time. You decide." It may not contain every song you may like, but you can't argue with the ones that are included on this disc. Here it is. Buy it!
