5.0 out of 5 stars a head-on collision between malevolent creation and ancient, December 18, 2004
this actually sounds as if aphazel of ancient took over the singing duties for malevolent creation, and then made the band go from writing about killing to writing about evil. necrodeath takes no prisoners when it plays. there are some "tender" moments in the guitar parts, but don't expect to hear "i love you" from the band. this band needs to come back. they are awesome!!

5.0 out of 5 stars True Black Metal Perfection, December 17, 2002
By Twitch (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews

Necrodeath's cult legacy has been alive for over 15 years, yet they are one of the most underrated bands of all time. With thier mix of thrash, death, and black metal, Necrodeath has released another masterpiece of heavy metal. Though not coming close to their 1987 release 'Into the Macabre' (in my opinion the greatest black metal album of all time), 'Mater of All Evil' cites a change in line up - Flegias for vocals and John for bass - and a new chapter in the Necrodeath legend. Vocally, Flegias does a great job filling in for their previous vocalist Ingo by screaming his lungs out and creating some of the darkest music ever recroded. Musically Necrodeath still kills with their crushing riffs and their lightning fast drum work. Probably the best song on the album is "Anticipation of Death". Both lyrically and musically, the song would make bands like Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir - though not bad bands - sound like the Backstreet Boys with guitars. Other songs of not are "Experiment In Terror", "At the Roots of Evil", actually every song is amazing. If you are open minded and enjoy true black metal, then this is the album for you.
