Wow! It's another killer CD from our friends at Rhino. This a great collection of TV Cop themes from the 'Dragnet' era to the 'Miami Vice' era. As far as I can tell, these are all original versions, Rhino usually researches these things very carefully. On some tracks ('Mod Squad', 'Police Woman'), the fidelity is a little dim; perhaps these were the best available versions (try finding the original 'Mod Squad' anywhere else, and you'll see what I mean.) Other than that, I'd recommend this disc very highly, especially if you are tired of ersatz TV theme albums. Particular standouts are the long version of 'Ironside' (Quincy Jones at his coolest), 'Theme From NYPD' (an obscure 60's show, but the music is incredible), the hard-to-find 'Mod Squad', and Sammy Davis jr. warbling the 'Baretta' theme....too much! Even the 'ChiPs' theme may bring a smile (or at least a smirk) to your face, enjoy!

The "Dragnet" theme is fantastic--real jazzy. My biggest complaint is that while the original artists are listed, the arrangements on the c.d. are not all performed by those original artists. For example, Johnny Smith's version of the late 60's series "NYPD" doesn't hold a candle to that of the original artist. Most are close, though...

Very poor. Not all are the originl arrangements used on TV. Cagney and Lacey is not a patch on the original, sounds like someones recorded it from their bedroom. Rhino did not do their research.
