Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The short FireWire cable you received bundled with your peripheral can be a bit constraining. The solution - replace it with a 15-foot (4.5 meters) cable from Orange Micro. Choose the IEEE-1394 compliant 6 pin to 4 pin cable (for peripherals requiring FireWire as its power source).

Note: This cable cannot be used to extend the length of the iBOT FireWire Web Camera cable. If you want to extend the iBOT cable beyond 6 feet, you need a FireWire Hub or a FireWire Repeater.

5.0 out of 5 stars A functional cable for DV editing, July 22, 2001
By Tyler Chambers (Tigard, OR United States) - See all my reviews
I bought this cable to use with my new Sony TRV730 digital camcorder so I could edit video on my PC. It works fine, is a cool translucent blue color ("iMac blue"), is nice and long, and costs half what most other 1394/Firewire cables cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got a digital camcorder? You're gonna need this., August 3, 2002

If you've got a digital camcorder or a digital camera that uses a DV (digital video) port in lieu (or in addition to) USB/RCA... AND you've got a FireWire (IEEE 1394) compatible computer, this is a must-have. Most digital camcorders don't even ship with a 4-to-6 pin cable, and those that do usually only come w/ a 3-foot cable.

The extra length allows you to position your camera a distance away from your CPU... necessary if you have shrinking desktop real estate. The clear-blue insulation gives a great Mac-esque look.

5.0 out of 5 stars great price, great cable, April 23, 2003
By Scott Marlowe (Rockwall, TX USA) - See all my reviews

I found similar firewire cables to sell for anywhere [for a range of prices]. This one is the most reasonably priced I've come across. ...the cable works great! It does kind of smell, however. Kind of a processed plastic sort of smell...

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny, It Doesn't Smell Like Oranges . . .
Works great and is a deal at [price]. The only gripe I have is that it stinks! I could smell the plastic insulation before I even opened the box from Amazon. Read more
